Este próximo martes 25 de junio, en el TLC Teatro Chino de Los Ángeles, tendrá lugar la premiere de “Norita”, el documental sobre la vida de Nora Cortiñas. Participar en este proyecto ha sido una de las experiencias más gratificantes de mi vida. Nora Cortiñas, una de las fundadoras y figura clave de las Madres de Plaza de Mayo (Línea Fundadora), fue un ser maravilloso y absolutamente único. Alguien que convirtió el inimaginable dolor de perder a un hijo a manos de la dictadura militar en una incansable búsqueda de la verdad y la justicia, enfrentándose a los responsables del secuestro, tortura y asesinato sistemático que culminó en la desaparición de miles de personas. La visión de Jayson McNamara y Andrea Carbonatto Tortonese, directores de la película, refleja con aguda precisión la vida de Nora, destacando su inquebrantable compromiso con la memoria, la verdad y la justicia, así como las características de su personalidad que hicieron de Norita el ser maravilloso que tantos tuvimos el privilegio de conocer. Este proyecto me dio la oportunidad de colaborar con Juan Luqui, Paco Cabral y Matías Tozzola, tres talentosos jóvenes compositores que sumaron su creatividad a la historia. En una situación de polarización global donde las narrativas divisivas, violentas y autoritarias parecen haberse expandido de manera pandémica, un momento en donde volvemos a ver en nuestro país situaciones que pensábamos nunca más tendríamos que enfrentar, “Norita” no es solo un film sobre la vida de un ser extraordinario que sustentaba cada una de sus acciones con amor e inagotable resiliencia, “Norita” es un documento necesario que nos alerta de lo que puede ocurrir cuando peligra la democracia y la falta de libertad. Desafortunadamente, Nora Cortiñas ya no está con nosotros tal como siempre la tuvimos. This upcoming Tuesday, June 25th, at the TLC Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, the premiere of “Norita”, the documentary about the life of Nora Cortiñas, will take place. Participating in this project has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Nora Cortiñas, one of the founders and key figures of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo (Founding Line), was a wonderful and absolutely unique person. Someone who turned the unimaginable pain of losing a son at the hands of the military dictatorship into an unrelenting quest for truth and justice, facing the perpetrators of the systematic kidnapping, torture, and murder that led to the disappearance of thousands of people. The vision of Jayson McNamara and Andrea Carbonatto Tortonese, the directors of the film, sharply captures Nora’s life, highlighting her unwavering commitment to memory, truth, and justice, as well as the traits of her personality that made Norita the wonderful person so many of us had the privilege of knowing. This project gave me the opportunity to collaborate with Juan Luqui, Paco Cabral, and Matías Tozzola, three talented young composers who added their creativity to the story. In a global situation of polarization where divisive, violent, and authoritarian narratives seem to have spread like a pandemic, a moment when we are once again seeing situations in our country that we thought we would never have to face again, “Norita” is not just a film about the life of an extraordinary person who supported each of her actions with love and inexhaustible resilience, “Norita” is a necessary document that warns us of what can happen when democracy and freedom are at risk.
