I was asked about my work in AI during my panel at @dreamitcon! It was a cool moment, because everyone at the convention mostly knows me as an actor and musician, and it was a lovely surprise to get the chance to not only share my passion regarding the innovative work that my company, Supereon Edge, is doing in AI, but also share a little about who initially inspired me to be an entrepreneur. “Is it hard to run your own business?” To describe running your own business (or two in my case) as “easy” or “hard” doesn’t do it justice. I recently had a conversation with an aspiring musician who was concerned that she would run out of stamina and one day quit before reaching her dreams. She asked me if I had any advice, and I wish I had a more feel-good answer, but in my career as an actor and entrepreneur, this is the core truth I have learned in regards to my philosophy on quitting: Quitting isn’t theoretical. It can’t be prevented with some magic spell or wise words from someone else. Only YOU will know if you will stop or keep going. And once you realize this reality on first principles basis? For three years, every dollar I made (present and past) was invested into building Multiply X and Supereon Edge. The day finally came, when my bank account hit zero. I thought I was working hard before that, but once I saw that number, I kicked it to a new notch – sat at my desk all day (was literally working 17-hour days). A couple weeks later, signed two new clients to Multiply X, and suddenly everything was okay again. Most entrepreneurs have a story like this, as it’s a pretty normal rhythm when building something new. I look back at that moment with pride that I did exactly what I said I was going to do, stuck with it, and it worked out. #entrepreneur #motivation #business
Your unique VOICE is the core of your business. What do I mean by “voice?” Your voice is many things, but let’s just say for now that your voice is what your business stands for and how you communicate with your customers. One of the biggest mistakes I see companies make is delegating their voice before they even know what it is. I also see companies (as they grow) begin to delegate the responsibility of communicating their voice to an external agency who inevitably lose sight of that unique voice and quickly commoditize it until the voice disintegrates into a corporate, bureaucratic haze. Does your voice need to be scaled for your business to expand? Absolutely. But make sure there is a unique voice there already before you task others with the job of communicating it. And once you choose to delegate it, that doesn’t mean you can take a passive role in autopilot, because ultimately, when you are the CEO, the voice of your business is your responsibility. #entrepreneur #business #marketing #motivation

“Give yourself time to find it.” My marketing firm had a shoot today with one of our clients, and we’ve been working so hard to develop this client’s personal brand as well as redesign the full-scale marketing system for his entire company. After months of experimentation and development, it really felt like today we saw the seeds blossom in the way we always knew they would. However, during that discovery phase, make sure you’re intentional about your direction while also being flexible and open to all of the unobvious opportunities that may pop up along the way.
