Telluride, CO, 6/23/24: Thanks to the @telluridebluegrassfestival for inviting the Large Band and me back to play. It’s an honor to be included in such a stellar lineup. We loved hearing @jerrydouglas and @tommyemmanuelcgp and @mollytuttle and Golden Highway. We loved that our dear friend, the King of Telluride, @sambushband, was willing to stay to the end of the festival to sit in with us and play Same Ol’ River. I love you, Sam. The Large Band and I are officially on the road. Thanks to @jamielenfestey for getting us started in Albuquerque last night. The audience was stellar, as were our special guests @billhearnemusic and Doug Hudson and Russell Fory, from @bandgeckos. The Large Band and I are excited to be in Telluride tonight for the @telluridebluegrassfestival. Riding the bus across West Texas through Marfa, Valentine, and Van Horn to Albuquerque was a great way to ease into road life. I still love to look at the world through its windows. My friend and hero @michaelmartinmurphey puts it all in perspective in one of my favorite songs, West Texas Highway. Thanks, Murph. Thanks, you all, for allowing the Large Band and me to get together and do what we love to do. We look forward to seeing you on the road.

@raviniafestival, Highland Park, IL, 6/30/24: Thank y’all for being a great audience and for tuning into @93xrt. @martylennartzxrt was nice enough to introduce the Large Band and me that night. Marty’s and XRT’s support means the world. Thanks to @clintblack for doing the show with us. Being able to often see friends who live in different parts of the country is one of the great bonuses of touring. I met novelist and journalist Laurence Gonzales in 1996 when he interviewed me for @mensjournal. We became friends initially because of our mutual love of motorcycling. We went riding together with my parents and @chrishainestours in Baja; Laurence spent time with us in Klein. I watched his daughters grow into beautiful adults with families of their own. Here he is Sunday on the steps of my @senatorscoaches bus with his wife, Debbie, and son, Jonas. Deb brought her homemade enchiladas and salsa and El Milagro tortilla chips; Jonas brought the pure joy and enthusiasm only a 21-year-young man can. Laurence filled me in on his latest book. I enjoyed catching up with them at Ravinia and snapping a few shots. Real friends are a rare treasure.
