Michael Beach Instagram – Starting out nice and easy with resistance training for my upper body while avoiding stress/pressure on my left wrist. The doctor tells me I shouldn’t lift for almost a year but it’s coming up on 6 months since my surgery and there is no way I can wait for another 6 months to get going. But my wrist is still weak and I don’t want to do any damage to it so I’ll just work around it. I haven’t gone to the gym to work my lower body, out of fear that I’d get comfortable and try to do other body parts I shouldn’t do so I stayed away.

But now I’m getting it back together “resistance” wise cause you can’t build muscle without some sort of resistance. However, I’m not a bodybuilder and I’m not young anymore 🤷🏾‍♂️🤣 so for me it’s about functional strength for a healthy body as I continue to age. Three things I’m gonna work on doing …
1. Light to moderate band and weight training (In and out of gym)
2. HIIT cardio (box jumps, air squats, light ball slams, jumping jacks etc … also walking/hiking)
3. Stay away from sugar (for now that’s all I’m gonna require of myself diet wise but this will really help)

It’s a mind game folks and you have to figure out what is gonna work for you. If you choose to do something but can’t stick to it then it’s no good to you. And it’s not weak or a cop out if you don’t do things 100% or all out. It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing plan.
