As a child, Martha’s favorite summertime treat was a recipe her mother often made. Big Martha’s summer sherbet is a simple mix of strawberries, bananas, sugar, orange and lemon juice, and milk. The sweet treat comes together quickly, freezes in ice cube trays, and makes a beautiful presentation when served in glass bowls.
Martha has always enjoyed working with farm animals, even dating back to her modeling days! “Ever since I’ve owned a house, I’ve craved backyard farmyard animals,” our founder says of her collection of animals. At the link in our bio, Martha introduces some of the farm animals she’s welcomed into her Bedford home, including Friesian horses, donkeys, and over 200 chickens. 📷: @marthastewart48

Tiramisu lovers, this one’s for you. Both make-ahead and no-bake, this Italian treat will lift everyone’s mood—including the chef’s! Grab an Americano at a coffee shop to infuse store-bought ladyfingers with freshly brewed flavor. Then, after layering the newly caffeinated cookies with marsala-spiked mascarpone, pop it in the fridge for an overnight chill that will set you up for slicing success. All that is left is a final dusting of cocoa powder before serving and you’ll be all set to end the evening on a high note. There is no dessert more quintessentially summer than strawberry shortcake, but making individual shortcakes for a group just isn’t practical. For this crowd-pleasing version, we bake biscuits side by side in a quarter sheet pan. As the biscuits bake, they rise and expand, forming a cake-like layer. Topped with piles of whipped cream and lightly macerated berries, you can expect juicy, creamy, and crunchy in every bite. Whether you have a sprawling backyard or a small patio, a container garden is an easy way to elevate any outdoor space—and is a great method for every level of gardener. Let Martha’s garden serve as inspiration: The woodland near our founder’s Maine home is lush with mosses, lichens, and ferns, which she pots in decorative faux bois containers and displays outdoors. Caramel, whipped cream, bananas, and nuts, yes, but there’s no ice cream in this no-bake dessert. Instead, our banana split cake features vanilla semifreddo, an Italian frozen custard made from cream, sugar, egg yolks, and gelatin. It’s easy to slice and slow to melt and is layered on top of a foundation of store-bought chocolate wafers for a cool take on a large format dessert. Here’s a new take on cheesecake, only easier and in tart form. The no-bake cream-cheese filling floats on a crisp and buttery press-in crust. Top it with thin peach wedges (peeled for a luxurious finish) and blueberries, both tossed in sugar, lemon, and salt to intensify their summery essence. Get the recipe at the link in our bio.
Every single ingredient in this sandwich brings something to the picnic (literally!). Goat cheese, peppadews, sautéed broccoli rabe with garlic, and a salty olive tapenade offer layer after layer of flavor. Even better: This easy make-ahead sandwich actually gets better with time. Cheesecake is always a winner. The combination of a buttery graham cracker crust and the luscious texture and tangy-sweet flavor of the filling is nothing short of spectacular. This cheesecake is perfect for the warmer months—the no-bake dessert is individually portioned and features a delightful fruit topping. See our 27 favorite cheesecake recipes at the link in our bio.
Martha’s lamb kebabs are an easy, any-night entrée. She cooks them in a grill pan on the stovetop so you can enjoy that grilled flavor indoors, no matter the weather—but you can certainly grill outdoors if you prefer. The meat and squash need time to marinate, so prep your meal at least six hours ahead of time and refrigerate. Get this recipe—and more of our best grilling recipes you can make all summer long—at the link in our bio.
Make this zucchini-Parmesan loaf and enjoy slices for several days. Zucchini not only adds flavor and a bit of color to this quick bread, but it also keeps it super moist. It’s delicious on its own or spread with creamy ricotta cheese. This bread takes little prep work in the morning (just slice and pack), which is great when you’re in a rush to get out the door. These cooked sushi rolls are a fun way to enjoy homemade sushi. We use baked salmon with rice, sliced carrots, cucumber, and avocado wrapped in nori seaweed sheets, creating a colorful dinner—sans raw fish. Rolling the sushi takes practice but has delicious rewards. It’s also something kids can do (and enjoy!)—they might even be better at it than the adults. Get the recipe at the link in our bio.
