Martha has long been an avid hiker, traversing trails near her home in Maine and around the globe. “One of my most memorable trips with Alexis was when she was five years old,” our founder recalls of this particular excursion. “We ventured west to Yosemite National Park, where we experienced the splendors of the giant sequoias, and the mountains and vistas of one of nature’s most incredible creations. We hiked for miles, and even climbed to the top of Vernal Fall. It was a proud day for all of us.” How do you plan to enjoy the great outdoors this spring? Let us know in the comments below.

Inspired by gribiche, the French sauce traditionally served with steamed asparagus, this salad takes a modern approach by grilling the spears then piling them on a platter with sliced hard-cooked eggs. The mustard vinaigrette, chock-full of cornichons and capers, preserves all the briny goodness of the original sauce. Dreadfully sophisticated and shockingly fun, this Halloween decoration hung on the front door gets the holiday off to a screaming start. Give the illusion that snakes have invaded your home by placing the reptile—in toy form, of course—into a grapevine wreath that’s been spray-painted black. Make it monochrome by also painting the vinyl snakes a similar shade. See more craft ideas that will decorate (and spookify) the inside of your home at the link in our bio. 📷: @ditteisager

Our quick pumpkin bread recipe is the ultimate fall treat. The recipe starts with canned pumpkin puree and calls for two different types of sugar—granulated and dark brown. The latter adds a touch of molasses flavor and chewy texture, which is key in a loaf cake like this. We amped up the autumnal flavor, too, spicing it with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. And since the recipe makes two loaves, there’s plenty to share or freeze for another time—trust us, your future self will thank you. These crisp olive oil cookies feature an intense cocoa flavor, and since they lean on oil instead of butter, they’re delightfully dairy-free. They call for a touch of honey in the dough, which lends a deeper sweetness than sugar alone would. They’re wonderfully snackable on their own, pair beautifully with a cup of coffee or a glass of dessert wine, and are the perfect partner to a bowl of fruit sorbet or a scoop of gelato.
