We stay in loft bedroom at an artist’s house. When we arrive hes asleep on the couch passed out. We hover awkwardly by the door before we finally decide to enter and wake him. Theres some bottles on the table. He doesn’t wake up till much later. We cry as we walk under NY scaffolding and eat famous pizza by the water. We’d just finished a film development course in uni. Yang uses big fat photos sheets to test her exposures. I cut mine up to neoprint sizes. I allow myself one roll the whole trip. Somehow I could never let myself spend on art — it’s too precious, I’d just waste it. I get these photos and never post it because who cares. But somehow due to a wrong timestamp they’ve sat permanently at the bottom of my photo album and I’ve looked at them everyday for 8 years & I love that. So I care!

Who’dve thinkled that when my tiny little brain decided on a whim that it was a fantastic idea to make a 100 cups for wedding favours, while none of the slightly rushed, self-executed wedding was planned .. it would be my MIL swinging in like tarzan on tree branches to rescue my sad and crumpled lifeless form. Well we made it! 100 cups (with extras because “everybody should have a choice” – my MIL) and the poignancy of it all just ughh graspspspsps me so. But thats a soppy post for another time.
