Caption : In honor of the new suicide squad being released I’m giving a lil backstory to the character Diablo. The character I built was based on a an amalgamation of people that I knew growing up in LA. Specifically my older brother. Now I normally don’t bring my family into social media but this is a small exception. The first image is the very first time I ever saw myself in full makeup. It was SURREAL. I looked at myself & thought,”this could have been my life and now I’m playing a version of it in a f**king superhero movie!” I thought about how my life could have turned out so much differently had I not been able to observe & learn from my older brothers. I owe both of them a massive debt. They taught me what family was, what honor & respect was. Sometimes by their mistakes. But they always had my back and believed in me. The second pic is my bro that he sent me from prison. He did his thing, life in there is violent & he got as much as he gave. Regardless, he is an amazing human being whose circumstance got the best of him but in the end, he is a survivor. I respect & love that man. I always said, the ability to thrive/survive in that environment are the same set of qualities that determine success on the outside. Much like Diablo he searches for redemption & like that character… I believe he deserves it. The full story goes DEEP. Trust me on that one. Life’s a trip. š¤·š»āāļø Can’t wait to check out the new Suicide Squad & see my Skwad fam kick ass again. š¤š½#thesuicidesquad #diabloviveLikes : 75777

I voted for Peace, our families, the environment, equality, progress, a future where wisdom, science & compassion guide the direction of this country and the greater world. I hope you did too. šš½Likes : 60202

Caption : Day 10, Hawaiian quarantine. I awoke this morning feeling quite serene but the pull of jealousy compelled me to foolishly peak out the window. The scenic beauty of the beachfront, morning joggers, the gentle paddle of octogenarian swimmers criss crossing the bay had me burning with rage…far too early for that. I made myself a black coffee & looked forward to watching eggs slowly congeal into the fluffiest of scrambles, obviously adding white truffle oil for flavor. Later, I tried my hand at tick tok which ultimately left me weeping uncontrollably, I immediately deleted the app. Following that tragedy I questioned my choice of coffee table, suddenly doubting Noguchi was the right fit. I scrolled through endless, overpriced mid-century options, some from as far away as Brazil, before circling back & feeling confident about my initial decision. The only thing I have to look forward to on this bleak day is Champagne which I would ceremoniously consume in a vintage Japanese kimono. 2012 was banner year for this particularly titillating brew which currently rests patiently in the wine cellar. These days move exceedingly slowly. Tomorrow, I think I will try yoga…or perhaps Chardonnay.Likes : 52046

Caption : Another year is nearing end. Another exercise in self indulgence via social media. We go about our lives wanting things we think we want, struggling to attain what we’ve been taught to attain. The journey is what it is but soon enough we find that time has accelerated at an unacceptable pace. No one is afraid of the end, the timing is what’s troubling. The timing is what complicates things. We know this. Most likely when it’s too late. The things gifted to us in youth, our health, our families, the beginning of our journey. That is the true source of wealth. The precious ticks & toks of time. The seconds that go by. We count them but think they don’t count. Until they do. This coming year, make it. Before it’s too late. Meditate on what you have, who you have. Let that be what brings you happiness, peace. These are the things that fill us, that make us whole. Not the things we think we want. #cabincontemplationsLikes : 50258

Caption : After sending Carlucci, my man servant to shore for yet another case of vintage champagne, tanning oil and Delia’s pomeranian, I recounted a riotously comedic story to a small crowd who had gathered starboard to absorb my obvious brilliance. Speaking far too loudly as the wealthy often do, I concluded my tale in a flourish that delighted onlookers to such an extent that many, if not all began hurling their nude bodies into the water with rapturous glee. I happened a glance at Bernard who was pestering an errant sea turtle. Convinced that if he could get it to don his captains hat, the sea creature selfie would tally endless likes on social media. He was unfortunately right. Pangs of jealousy coursed through me and it was then I knew I would soon take a sea creature selfie which I would obviously post before he. As sun set, the saturated colors gave way to a type of malaise only the rich can taste and the poor can dream of. The only real tragic element of the day was not my poor judgement, nor indulging in the meaningless, it was seeing the horrid form of a wet Pomeranian reveal itself as Carlucci boarded the yacht. #happy #valentines #dayLikes : 46049

Caption : Growing up in LA there was a point in my adolescence where I understood the cops to be my enemy. Many made it clear I was theirs. I’ve “fit the description” on numerous occasions & can say with confidence that being held at gunpoint is not fun. Back then, no one I knew called the cops. For anything. Things could only go from bad to worse if you did. I’ve had officers look me in the eye & make me understand the disgust they had for me. Not necessarily me as an individual, but the collective “me.” People who looked like me & grew up where I did. I wasn’t raised in the worst part of LA, nor was it the best. We had our share of gangs, drugs, violence like many neighborhoods. But as I got older, I learned more. I read more. I realized that the way some cops had predetermined my guilt, I had done the same to them, assuming they were all bad. That’s clearly not the case. Most cops are hard working men & women who’re doing the best they can to support their families & I respect that. The burden of racism is placed on black, brown & poor communities with institutional backing .When we don’t help those least fortunate among us we sometimes force Cops to confront social ills (poverty, mental health, substance abuse issues) with a punitive hand. In California It costs on average $80,000 per year, per prisoner with almost 130,000 people in prison. That money Could be INVESTED in an individuals future & not their punishment. Shouting “Law & Order” sounds good, it’s something we theoretically can all get behind but the reality is that very phrase has historically been used as a political weapon against people of color. Stronger psych evals, how we train & hire police MUST change & when dangerous individuals are identified we canāt let them hide behind a badge or a union & soil the uniform for everyone else. I stand in solidarity with my black brothers & sisters. I want better for us. All of us.Likes : 40161
