The glory of independent film making brings you “You’ve Goat mail.” A harrowing love story about two non binary goats from disparate sides of the world who become pen pals & find love in a remote Afghan village and whose only hope for survival is a US soldier whose bound by a blood oath made to the goats father on his deathbed to get his “kid” safely out of harms way and into greener pastures. Being on joint base Pearl Harbor-Hickam & wearing the uniform is humbling. It’s was special to be able to shoot this scene driving the Ferrari in front of the USS Arizona memorial. I understand firsthand how difficult the commitment of military duty is through family members. Holidays, birthdays, weddings, funerals and perhaps halcyon hours of doing absolutely nothing with the people you love. A lot of us use “patriotism” to falsely claim superiority in the American sociological strata, a way to differentiate between “us” and “them.” The reality is we are all Americans and regardless of where you stand ideologically the ones who serve deserve respect for the commitment to duty. Hats off to all of you men and women, straight, gay, black, white, brown, asian & everything in between. You’re the real badasses. 🇺🇸🤟🏽🇺🇸 #magnumpi #jointbasepearlharborhickam

On this day Mount Kila-Haole beckons. Many a tale have been told about her treachery, venomous serpents, shrubs with bark like razors, Republicans. But it’s finally time to shed my sherpas and begin the journey. I’ve been at basecamp south for many days now, acclimating to the vast amounts of cubed tuna flesh and domestic beer needed to fuel this trek. I set off before sunrise tomorrow unless this creeping hangover renders me inert, upon which case I’ll need weeks, possibly months of rehabilitation. Consuming farm to table fineries paired with exotic accoutrements and the most delicate of wines in order to gain sufficient strength for another attempt. I shall report back soon. Keep me in your prayers dear friends.
