So nice to be in Charleston again. I’ve heard about the Angel Oak for years, and even mentioned it in my book (The God of the Garden), but today was my first chance to see it in person and do some painting. I read somewhere that it’s the oldest living thing east of the Mississippi, and whether or not that’s true, it’s truly astonishing. Wow, wow, wow, what a marvelous first weekend of shows on the Resurrection Letters tour. Thanks to all the audiences and churches that made us feel so very welcome, for standing and singing with such joy at all the right spots, for celebrating Christ’s victory over death in a way that helps me believe the lyrics to these songs with even more conviction. Our show Sunday night in Fairfax at @truroanglican was such a blast. That’s where I sketched this on a perfect spring day before the concert. See you all on the road the next two weekends, culminating at a show here in Nashville on Easter Monday. (Details on my website.)
