Malcolm-Jamal Warner Instagram – Sometimes I hear someone dope and don’t post bc I’m so over hearing N*gga in hip hop and I don’t want it misconstrued that I co-sign the shenanigans. Admittedly, I even struggle with a lot of my favorite hip hop songs I grew up on. Especially now that I see that in many ways, hip hop has become the oppressor’s super power. But sometimes the message is more important than the use of the word. And often, rappers do use the superpower to spread what we need to hear as opposed to what is normally mandated that we hear. I’ve not done a deep dive into his work, but so far I respect his game for going this route and forging his own path. Plus, I want to spend less time railing against the wack shit and more time shining light on the dope hip hop and artists who don’t just do what everybody else is doing by selling us out for the bag.
