I’m very fond of walking. Greetings from Chatsworth House, which many believe may have been Jane Austen’s inspiration for Pemberley, the home of Mr. Darcy. It was used as the location in the 2005 film, so of course I had to go and see it for myself, and you’ll have to forgive me for being exceptionally nostalgic in this case. We all wanted to live within the intro from that 90s Beatrix Potter TV show, right? Or is that too niche. Hello from the Peak District, where I’ve been staying for a few days in this beautiful bed and breakfast with a perfect English Garden called ‘Fischer’s Baslow Hall’ (although in my head I call it Toad Hall). We’re exploring the surrounding area as well as working on a few projects near and dear to my period-drama loving heart. If you know the area, I think you’ll have a fairly good idea what has drawn me specifically here (hint, he owns the miserable half) but truly this is a trip that has been on my mind for years. We’ve rented a car to get around, and will be seeing plenty of the surrounding area (including a trip into London) as well as driving briefly into Scotland to tick off a few more dream visits (possibly TV and movie themed). Recipe as follows (and best part: no blender needed!). 2 ounces @diplomaticorum 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed 3/4 ounce simple syrup Add the rum, lime juice and simple syrup to a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled. Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lime twist and enjoy!
