17 years ago yesterday, I married the love of my life. It’s been 21 years together and I cannot imagine life without him. He is the kindest and most generous soul, curious and inquisitive about everything, so funny, and incredibly supportive of me and our making a difference in the world. We have weathered good, bad and terrifying times together that have only cemented our love. I found a great garland at the West Seattle farmers market yesterday to recreate (kind of!) the garlands we got married with! And we had the perfect anniversary celebration at Golden Gardens park on the beach last night with a picnic, watching the sunset, celebrating each other and dreaming into the future. Thank you @touchingmyheart. Happy anniversary! I love you. ❤️

The Kroger-Albertsons merger could have catastrophic repercussions for consumers, workers, and communities across the country. That’s why I am leading an amicus brief to support the FTC’s efforts to stop this merger. What’s happening in Gaza is not external to the U.S. It is not a conflict that we are being asked to mediate from the outside. We are the largest backer of military assistance to Israel. We have a responsibility to use our position and leverage to secure a permanent path to peace.
Trump’s Project 2025 would be a disaster for the immigration system. It would rip apart American families, which comes as no surprise from the party that cruelly tore apart more than 5,000 kids from their moms and dads. It’s inhumane and un-American. We can’t go back to that.
It was an honor to know and work closely with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. She was a relentless champion for women, people of color, and immigrants, and she left behind a glorious legacy as a warrior for justice. Sheila will be dearly missed, but we will carry on her fight.
Trump’s Project 2025 is an extreme agenda to ban abortion, destroy our public education system, go after LGBTQIA Americans, and rollback all of our progress in fighting the climate crisis. It’s authoritarian, unpopular, and un-American.
Things have been busy but I took some time today to respond personally to a few of the many constituents who write to me every day!! Today’s letters were about the urgency of climate change, getting money out of politics, fighting against LGBTQ discrimination at home and internationally, and standing up for immigrant rights and reproductive freedom. I am so proud to be leading on every one of these issues and i promise I will never stop! I love when people write to me and engage in our democracy. That’s what it takes for democracy to thrive! Keep it up! 🙏🏾✊🏾
There’s nothing better than a day spent talking with constituents, visiting their businesses, and hearing their stories of success, resilience, and perseverance. It was so great to tour some spots in Shoreline — check out where we went! We first stopped at @drumlinshoreline, where I spoke to the owner, Megan Kogut, about their expansive space and the community events they host. With the help of an SBA and a supportive community, Megan and her team have created a welcoming environment with live music and food for Shoreline residents. If you know me, you know I’m a HUGE bookworm, so I was super excited to visit @ridgecrestbooks next! I loved chatting with owners Becky and Kevin about their mission for their store and their favorite new releases — and I even got some great recommendations! We then saw @afrobarberseattle, where I met owner Tewachew “T” Felate, who has served thousands of customers in years of experience in Seattle. He’s proud to run a business that serves the community and also functions as a gathering place for the local East African community. Next up was Studio JYC, a beauty studio founded by Jane Chang. We spoke about her business, her experience running a one lady studio, and her advocacy in the community. I’m so grateful to have people like Jane proudly operating businesses throughout my district! Our final stop was Harambe Market, where I was given the warmest welcome. The shop owners greeted me with Ethiopian coffee, popcorn, lentil sambusas, and cake. What an amazing space filled with hospitality, warmth, and good people — I couldn’t have asked for more! I’m so proud to have all of these amazing businesses in our district and am incredibly grateful for their contributions to our economy, culture, and community!

The Trail Along the Rail project is creating a new multi-use trail right alongside multiple light rail stations in Shoreline! I’m fighting for federal funding for this project to improve regional mobility, provide safer pathways for pedestrians and bikes, and increase access to transit.
