This whole summer slipped away. We got to sneak in a little mini family vacay at the lake before the kids went back to school yesterday. Thank you @e_r_i_k_a_n_e_w_m_a_n and @gregjnewman for letting us stay at your beautiful lake paradise. What a gift!!!

So… I’ve been busy. While I was shooting Mistletoe Murders, I was also writing a new script!! And… we started shooting on Monday! I’m not acting in this one, which means I get to just visit set and be entertained by this magical cast!! My biggest win in this whole thing is that I wrote the third lead for my brilliant friend @kaleymccormack who you might remember as my best friend in #branchingout . You never know how these things are gonna shake out and I didn’t have final say on casting- didn’t even see her tape, but she auditioned- KILLED IT and was cast! When I got the news I got to call her and I couldn’t stop shaking and crying!! Yesterday I got to see her (and my absolutely brilliant and beautiful 2 leads) bring my words and my world to life and I couldn’t be happier!!! Such a fun day on set. I can’t share more than this yet- besides the fact that I get to work with @jakehelgren and @autumnfederici again- and they are a powerhouse team- not to mention an absolute JOY! My heart is full!!! @ninthhousefilms

Parenting hack: hike with purpose! We have the hardest time getting the kids outside especially when it’s hot – so – we went location scouting today for Micah’s third installment of his epic sci fi adventure! Total win! And yes we hike with umbrellas because this fam burns like CRAZY.

More proud mama moments… An excerpt from Micah’s prequel to the other short he made. The floating effect? Mind blown. Also- check out the speeder bike chase. He built those speeder bikes out of Legos, then shot himself in front of a green screen with a fan blowing his hair and then put himself on the bike. I mean….. constantly blown away by this kiddo’s creativity. We did some location scouting for his third installment today. I’ll share some vids from that as well 🙂

That’s a wrap on season 1 of Mistletoe Murders. I’m all joyed and cried out. Good lord, this was heaven. Absolute heaven. I cannot put into words – I mean- I will later- but it will be hard to put into words how magical this show is- these humans- these new forever friends- this family we’ve forged here in Toronto this summer. I can’t share more until the rest of the cast is announced and then I will be spamming you with BTS JOY! My heart is full to bursting. I don’t know how I got so lucky. Now back to my beautiful hubby and kiddos. Dying to squeeze them all. What a rollercoaster this whole life is. ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰🎬🎬🎬

Though the subject matter of this film was super intense and emotional- and draining – we all managed to have an absolutely magical time making this for you! Cannot wait for you all to meet Linda Murphy in HOW SHE CAUGHT A KILLER on September 16th at 8pm on @lifetimetv . @robin_hays masterfully and lovingly captained our ship along with our amazing DP @jonathankischel (who also dp’d my writing debut last year, reindeer games). Brilliant cast! Brilliant crew! It was such an incredible experience executive producing this as well!! So excited for you all to see this one!! I’m really proud of it.
