you saw her didn’t you… another sneak peek of our film THE THICKET in theaters September 6th. this day.. i think we were all scared. me most of all. playing alongside these goats in that wind chill was some serious business @macon_blair @gbengaakinnagbe @peterdinklage @levon_hawke. i learned so much from each of you. what an honor.
…it’s a long story. THE THICKET in theaters SEPTEMBER 6th. one of the many gifts of this film was getting to know and play opposite to the wise beyond his years @levon_hawke who plays Jack. not only was he an incredibly present and generous actor on set (as one would suspect) but he was also so intentionally kind and curious about each of us in our time off set. always actively listening and offering a thought, a feeling, or a question that challenged our understanding of our scenes and our characters in all the ways you’d hope for from a castmate. he shines so BRIGHT in this film! can’t wait for y’all to meet Jack Jimmy Sue so soon!
2 FILMS IN @deauvilleus! 🎉 THE THICKET will premiere and IN THE SUMMERS in competition! I was so blessed to be a part of both of these films. Each made with SO much love, care, and meticulous intention. It’s funny, as I think of my shooting experiences for each, I’m realizing both of them were shot in polar opposite extreme weather conditions (below zero calgarian winter and triple digit new mexico summer). It may have been the biggest gift and lesson to witness cast crew persevere through that, among the other usual filmmaking obstacles, to make these works of art what they are! Witnessing how magical things can come from committing to the art through the hard parts is a lesson I’ll carry with me forever! Can’t wait for France to enjoy these stories!
