Over the next four months, we must do everything in our power to ensure we never face a Trump candidacy again. Furthermore, we must work toward a future where a multi-party system replaces the restrictive two-party framework, ensuring true representation and justice for all.

More grounded thoughts. Lean into curiosity in this moment. And listen to each other as we make very very difficult decisions. Hold space for the impact. Hold space for the nuance. Call your friends in the south and Midwest. Especially if you are from the coastal cities. I want to end the rise of global fascism.
I don’t post much about the killing of Black people. The vigilantes, the cops, the media. I don’t post much about the devastating news of violence against Black women. It’s not that I don’t think about it. It’s not that I am not working to change the material conditions for us. All the time. It’s that I don’t want to be a part of a white supremacist patriarchal news cycle. I don’t want to locate my pain inside of your negligence. Instead I choose me, my community, my healing. As I reflect on the last six weeks of my first debut solo show, I am deeply contemplating what it means to protect ourselves as Black people, as people of color, and as those on the margins. What does true protection look like? I was incredibly fortunate to engage in a meaningful conversation with Jasmin A. Young, a scholar and professor whose work focuses on Black women and self-defense. It was an honor when Shelley Bruce asked to bring her team for a walkthrough of my work and then lead two self-defense classes for the community. This is the essence of why I create. The fascist will always come after the artists. I’m going to center in deep gratitude today. I’m grateful to be apart of a movement that is rallying against global fascism. Sending love, care and protection to everyone, especially the artists today. The ones in exile. The ones in prison. The ones who can’t be free because of oppressive governments.
