I wore this Rani Pink sari as an ode to Yayoi’s feminine Asian power & bright palettes, its folds evoking a feeling of the infinite in me. The ancestral Navratnan (9 jewel) neck piece held strong as a symbol of heritage and ancestral inspiration. Yet all paled in comparison to Kusama’s whimsical imagination embodied so magically in those expansive walls. I remain in awe of this living legend. Yesterday was #WorldSareeDay and since I was a child, any formal event meant an occasion to wear the beautiful drapes and silhouettes of India. I learnt this from my mother and the proud aunties of my community. It felt incredible to honour that tradition and instinct at this year’s NGV gala.
