I’m going to be really honest, I almost didn’t post this. In fact, of all the very real, very vulnerable things I’ve posted on this platform, this one is by far the hardest for me to share. I wanted to film a side-by-side video of me doing the same @thebecomeproject sequence – one from 2017 when I was working out and teaching every day and one from today, 12 weeks postpartum after two back-to-back pregnancies. I wanted to discuss normalizing the postpartum body and how I’m excited to get back to movement in this new year. But when I dropped these videos next to each other, I cried. Hard. Tight, tender, weak and soft was the only thing I could see. I didn’t want to be upset. I didn’t want to feel like I had “let myself go”. After all, I spent years preaching about acceptance, neutrality and how bodies change like seasons. I shouldn’t be phased by this, right? Wrong. I imagined when I got pregnant I would workout my whole pregnancy. I imagined I would create pregnancy programs followed by mommy and me workouts. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I imagined having the “bounce back” of all bounce backs. But that just wasn’t in the cards. My pregnancies required rest. My babies required soft. My body required change. And so…here we are, what feels like square 1 (for me anyway.) I’m not going to pretend like being a beginner on the mat isn’t tough for me to accept. It is. But I’m also going to use this opportunity to understand my body better, continue to show it love and regain strength and fluidity that I’ve been missing, because I do miss it. So if anyone wants to move along with me, big or small, I still have @thebecomeproject videos available for download. Link in my bio. ❤️❤️
Yesterday, I turned to @bethanycmeyers and said, “People must think we’re obsessed with our family,” and without missing a beat, she replied, “We are.” And honestly, we’re loving this phase of life. Here’s to all the family-obsessed folks living for early bedtimes, morning snuggles, sandy feet, and saying peepee and poopoo more times than you can count. Enjoy these photos from our maternity shoot with the incredibly talented @createanomaly.

Yesterday we walked the kids down to the beach for some fresh salt air, everyone came down with a nasty cold this weekend (minus me so far 🤞🏼) so per usual we used the beach as our healing ground. While there — Nico holding our toddler and me holding our baby — I started to think about my pregnancy with Pesce and how much the ocean played a part in his entrance to the world. I stood at this beach the day he was conceived. I prayed for him here when l convinced myself we had miscarried again. I used the ocean to prepare for labor – imagining the waves filling my uterus and washing open my cervix. The ocean roared with a hurricane when my water broke, and once the storm had passed, I labored here while staring at the waves. When it was time to push, we turned off the music and listened to the ocean instead. The beach was the first adventure he went on and nap times have been spent with feet in the sand, sounds of waves in the ears. And now I stand at this familiar place, my mother’s intuition heightened from having sick babies tucked into my arms and I think about the passing of time and the waves of life. How each moment, each phase, each struggle and triumph comes and goes and subtly changes the terrain we stand on. And then I thought about these photos, the final weeks before three became four and our world cracked open once again. ✨ 📸 by @createanomaly
WE MADE IT TO LIBRA SEASON BABY!!! Slide 1: me saying 🖕🏼 to early labor Slide 2: live footage of the baby in my belly dancing their way into Libra season Slide 3: me exposing my deep love for Virgos 💀 Okay for real though, because I know I’ve sh*t on virgos one too many times in my stories the past week and soon they’ll be coming for blood. I WOULD TAKE ANY BABY I WAS GIVEN!!!! But I just kept imagining a little Virgo showing up in our arms and looking at Nico’s fire / air, my air / air and Kilmer’s water / fire and saying ohhhhh what did I get myself into?? I gotta do admin for this fam?? 😂 Officially full term and (almost) ready to welcome our little Libra into the family!

Whewwwww is right! 😭 We have a new episode dropping tomorrow all about our first birth experience and it’s as beautiful as it is emotional. Even more special given our family is about to welcome baby 2. Mark your cals / set your alarms / write a note on the back of your hand, this is an episode you won’t want to miss. Episode 3: Our Home Birth Shift airs Tuesday, 9/24 anywhere you get your podcasts (link in bio!) 🌪️❤️ – @nicotortorella & @bethanycmeyers
Okay these moves are simple, straightforward and can be done watching tv! It’s rare I get a chance to do them all together without interruption, but if I have a minute it’s one of these five moves I go to. All of these are postpartum safe (once cleared by your provider) and do specific things to support the body after pregnancy. I personally think 6 weeks is too early for most to start working out (it was for me). First and foremost make sure the pelvic floor is in tact! Start small and listen to your body. TBH my number one fitness goal right now is to be able to get up off the floor without holding something or using my hands. I’d also like to be able to baby wear for extended periods without feeling like my insides are gonna fall out. 🫠 This is a good place to start! The only other ingredient needed is giving yourself a lot of grace as you get started! #Postpartum #postpartumworkout #momlife
This week’s episode of @fullofshift focuses on a topic close to my heart, infertility and pregnancy loss (along with the untold, unfiltered wild wild story of how we got pregnant with Kilmer Dove). I don’t think pregnancy loss is talked about enough. Few people know how common it is until it happens to them. And even fewer people talk about the long lasting effect it can have on you, including the joy it robs you of in future pregnancies. I hope that those of you who listen to episode 2 feel a little less alone and a little more seen. Promise to make give you solid laughs and maybe even a few necessary tears. @fullofshift *Side note this is also a great episode to share with your non-birthing partner. @nicotortorella talks about his experience, how difficult it was to walk me through this and the confusion of knowing how to show up in the dark hours. We don’t always get that side of the story ❤️
Continuing to build my home apothecary! This one is the simplest and quite possibly the most effective – fermented garlic honey. If you want some natural remedies in your pantry but don’t know where to start, this is for you. Peel organic garlic Chop in half or poke holes in the cloves Cover with raw honey (local if possible) Store in pantry, “burping” the jar for the first few weeks It’s completely shelf stable, the longer it sits, the more potent it becomes! It actually tastes DELICIOUS. I personally think it tastes like candied garlic. Mellow, sweet and sticky. Excellent remedy when you feel a cold coming on or need a little immunity boost. Enjoy!
The sequence is SUCH A GOOD postpartum stretch. I’ve been sliding it in any chance I get and my shoulders and hips are thanking me. You don’t have to be postpartum to benefit – it’s great if you’re feeling tight, overly anxious or disregulated. It gently stretches shoulders, chest, spine hips and hamstrings so I would say most of us need this one! If you want a version of this sequence that moves at a pace and incorporates core work – check out my movement routine shop (link in bio) then search “nobody’s fault” in the menu. Here you’ll find a 25 min, full body guided workout with lots of variations and modifications. We do this sequence for the warm up! Also, I want to say thanks for all your comments on my side-by-side workout video that I posted earlier this week. You all really gave me a lot of encouragement and also helped me feel less alone in this postpartum period. It’s helped me incorporate more micro-doses of exercise and stretching into my daily routine!
