The scripture we’re referencing this #MarriageMonday is, “Follow me as I follow Jesus. Typically, we picture this verse like a train: Jesus is in front, Paul follows Him, and the people Paul is writing to are following behind him. But what if, instead, Paul is inviting us to follow with him—side by side? Rather than a hierarchy, it’s an invitation for all of us to walk together, following Jesus as one. When I think about my nearly 25 years of marriage with this extraordinary woman, one of my favorite parts is this “side by side” dynamic—curiously following Jesus together. It’s a shared adventure, pushing each other forward, wondering together: What will Jesus ask us to do next? Where will He lead us? And enjoying that journey, together. So, here’s the takeaway: What if today, you leaned into your partner—whether it’s your boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, husband, or wife? Picture that classic image of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, head to head, shoulder to shoulder. What if you leaned into your partner and considered the extraordinary opportunities Jesus is leading you into together? It’s such a privilege, such an honor. I’m ready for another 25 years, because I’ve loved every chapter, every season, every day. As Chelsea and I continue discovering the next steps Jesus has for us, it’s a thrill and an honor. And I love it.

#MarriageMonday from the archives. I will never forget something Judah shared with me during a time when he was feeling emotionally and physically fatigued. It was a full season; he was flying between Seattle and LA every week and preaching 7 times every Sunday. We were laying in bed on a Saturday night and he confessed that he didn’t know if he could get up to preach the next day, but he felt like he couldn’t “pull himself out of the game.” In that moment I called an audible by making a simple phone call to find someone else to preach (one of the advantages of working together). I tell this story because I believe spouses can be each other’s greatest assets in guarding their mental health. We need to have open, honest communication with each other and listen when someone says they are struggling. We need to be vulnerable to admit when we need help. Sometimes we need to help our spouse get a practical plan toward healing. One of the beautiful benefits of marriage is that we can be there for each other. As a wise man once said, “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.”

#MarriageMonday On Friday night we had some friends over and all got in a super interesting conversation around theological issues. It was fun hearing perspectives from teenagers and adults and gave us all something to connect over. I never would have imagined how much having common interests would connect our family as well as our marriage. Having a shared passion, something we are each individually interested in, then bringing our perspectives to each other is such an important part of enjoying your marriage. What are your shared interests with your spouse? What are you doing to cultivate those?
In this episode we are unpacking the layers of doubt individuals may face regarding their faith, self-perception, and relationships with others. — Navigating Doubt, full episode of In Good Faith available on YouTube and Podcasts.
#MarriageMonday Can you believe we only have 2 days left of 2024? I will admit it is a year I am more than ready to say goodbye to, and while changing a number on a calendar doesn’t necessarily change things, it does give us an opportunity to stop and be intentional. Here’s my big question to think about in the next two days: what is one thing in your marriage you want to intentionally leave behind in 2024 and what is one thing you want to bring with you into 2025? I want to leave behind nitpicking about little things that don’t matter, and I want to bring into the new year taking more moments to touch Judah and say something positive (his love languages are words of affirmation and touch). What about you? Comment below and @ mention your partner so they can support your intentions! Happy New Year!
Trust that He is aligning everything for your good, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
And in that hope, we find the courage to face whatever comes our way. 💛
Let this be your reminder: your worth isn’t tied to achievements or circumstances—it’s rooted in the love and intention that created you. 💛
Being available to be used by God means saying “yes” to His purpose, trusting his plan, and letting go of our own. When we walk in faith, serve others, and stay open to His leading, we become vessels for his love and grace. Stay humble, trust His timing, and let God work through you today!
