When I was 18 I saw a film set for the first time & got to meet @vincentdonofrio. He was incredibly kind to me—enough I decided that was what I wanted to do. Three years later I booked my first acting job with @jasonwinstongeorge who I run into years later at the premiere of @marvel’s Echo which I had the privilege of helping write with some very talented people. It stars the magnificent @alaquacox and… Vincent D’Onofrio. Sometimes life leads you full circle. ⭕️ 🙏 All episodes drop today on @disneyplus & @hulu.
It was a honor to work in the writers room with such a brilliant group of people on Marvel’s Echo who collectively shared the lived experience of Maya Lopez. Thank you to @mediaaccessawards for honoring us @itsjoshfeldman & @mariondayre for repping @themarleematlin for presenting and to @pbssocal for airing the ceremony! Here is a snippet of it my phone made because I cannot.
My Oma loved knowing so many of you. Thank you for being a part of her life in the 96 years we were lucky enough to have her among us on earth. Rest well Oma. I love you. 🤟
Director Shoshannah Stern celebrates her directorial debut ‘Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore’ on day one of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
If you’re like me it’s actually harder to watch television now with a small child at home all day. But you must watch @cripcampfilm. I alternated between goosebumps and tears throughout, and finally had my little one join me for a lesson in what civil rights means—standing up for yourself and others. It shows how people like my hero @theheumannperspective, who I was thrilled to get to meet after my panel at Sundance, paved the way for people like me to do what we do and continue the fight. Like the late Steve Hofmann says in the film, “if you are disabled and have a passive nature, you’re really screwed.” Which pretty much sums up why I am the way I am… and how we all need to be. Bravo Crip Camp. 👏
BIG news! We’re thrilled to share MARLEE MATLIN: NOT ALONE ANYMORE is premiering at the 2025 #Sundance Film Festival! In 1987, Marlee Matlin became the first Deaf actor to win an Academy Award and was thrust into the spotlight at 21 years old. Reflecting on her life in her primary language of American Sign Language, Marlee explores the complexities of what it means to be a trailblazer. Mark your calendars for Jan 23–Feb 2! Today I go to Sundance. Tomorrow we premiere our film. I could never have done it without these people: my team, my crew. Over the last two years they were by my side in Toronto, San Francisco, Park City, Chicago, Milwaukee, LA, Denver, Tucson and Nicassio Valley. Each of you brought a certain something that made this film what it is. I am forever grateful for all of you. Thank you for all your hard work… and all the fun! 🤟🙏

Some news about what’s been keeping me busy 🎥
Some news about what’s been keeping me busy 🎥
Closing the door on an absolutely wonderful summer! Now let’s get back to it y’all. 🎥 by @nyledimarco
This is honestly difficult for me to share because it’s one of the last communications I had with my friend and coworker @mr_kenneth_mitchell. But I decided I want to share it because of the immensely beautiful way he loved his family and saw the world… and because I want us to continue to be reminded of his utmost grace and light. Rest in peaceful power my friend. 🤟
I have no words to express how it feels to have my directorial debut screen in competition on the opening day of Sundance! I was honored to share a little glimpse into our film, which explores the exemplary life and career of Marlee Matlin with my Meet the Artist video. We are already starting to sell out screenings (omg!) so please don’t wait, get your ticket today! I would love to see you in Park City next week, but if you can’t be there, online tickets are also available! 🤟 Additionally, I wanted to acknowledge the overwhelming loss in my home city of Los Angeles. So many people I know have lost everything. It’s important to recognize that disabled individuals, including many Deaf people, have been left behind in the aftermath of these fires, with some losing both their homes and their jobs. You can support them by donating to the resources on @flowstateasl. More ways to help can be found on the latest @actualfilmsdocs post.
My multi-talented Cancer friend, Shoshannah, sporting her Cancer Tear T-shirt! She chopped it up to her liking and I love it!
