Hosting The Cord Club for @wingsforlife last night was such a privilege. As someone living with a spinal cord injury — for over 20 years now – and with many pals in the same situation, trust me when I say the challenges we face every day sometimes feel too much to cope with…and it can feel very isolating… Be surrounded by so many passionate and determined supporters of the mission to change the impact of SCI, the feeling of community was profound and made the impossible feel possible. Brandon, Wags, Arron and all the WFL USA Team, thank you for bringing me into the Fam 💜 #WingsForLife #SpinalCordInjury #TheCordClub Image descriptions 1. On the red carpet at The Cord Club event for Wings for Life. I am dressed in a sparkling silver dress and seated in my wheelchair, smiling confidently flanked by two men in suits, both smiling towards the camera. The background features the event’s logo and sponsor branding on a blue backdrop 2. I am wearing a sparkling silver dress on the red carpet at The Cord Club event, hosted by Wings for Life smiling brightly at the camera. The blue backdrop behind her features The Cord Club logo and various sponsor logos 3 The stage at The Cord Club event is lit with soft blue and purple lighting. Im in my wheelchair, wearing a sparkling silver dress, speaking passionately to the audience. Behind me, a large screen displays a close-up image of me in an earlier scene, wearing a teal blouse. The event branding is subtly projected on the ceiling, adding to the inspiring atmosphere of the moment. 4. On stage at The Cord Club event, I’m applauding with a joyful expression. Next to me, a man in a suit holds up a card and speaks energetically to the audience.

It’s officially time to share my ideas with the world ✈️ TEDx London Hackney Empire 📍 Tomorrow, Sunday, the 26th of January and online soon. #TED #FestivalOfIdeas #TEDx #TEDTalk #Hackney #HaqueMeEmpire #RightsOfFlights #FightToFly #InclusiveTravel #MyFlightIsYourFight #DisabilityRights #DI #EtienneInclusion #WheelchairUser #Travel #BiteFly #DisabledAndproud #Representation #Storytelling#TedSpeaker
Disabled people deserve the right to fly without fear, says British TV host and disability advocate, Sophie Morgan on the TEDxLondon stage today. The dirty secret of flying isn’t the hidden charges, or the dodgy food; it’s how they treat people with disabilities, that is, like luggage. Disabled travellers regularly feel like victims of discrimination. They are left stranded on planes, treated like second class citizens, and too often their wheelchairs are broken. Did you know, air travel is the only remaining means of transport where wheelchair users must be separated from our mobility devices? When disability does happen to you, or perhaps to someone you love: a parent, a grandparent, a friend or a sibling, Sophie says that “you learn that it isn’t just your body that disables you. It is also the environment and systems in which we live that were not designed for everyone.” But the good news? They could be! Sophie invites everyone to dismantle these barriers. After all, if we created them, we can dismantle them, right? Through the Rights on Flights campaign, Sophie has signposted the solutions––asking for a change in the law to help protect peoples rights in the air. And in particular, a dedicated space to be created in each and every aeroplane for wheelchair users—called the ‘Air For All’. “Advocating for disability rights is about more than just changing the world for disabled people ….it’s about benefiting everyone now and in the future.” #TEDxLondon #Accessibility #Disability #Justice #AccessibilityRights #RightsOnFlights #TEDxLondonFestivalOfIdeas @sophlmorg
