Things I am grateful for 1. LIFE, Being fortunate enough to have made it to this age when so many others have not had that opportunity. 2. My beautiful little soul of a best friend, my daughter 3. Hot showers 26. That amazing feeling after a workout 27. The tough times that teach me lessons and make me better 28. The good times that recharge my soul 29. Exceptional people who inspire me and set examples of what I would like to emulate 30. Difficult people who show me what I would not 31. Loud sleepovers full of little kids laughter and chaos 32. Responsibility 40. Stupid decisions 41. Losing 42. Winning 43. Wisdom 44. Naïveté 45. Happiness 46. Sadness 47. Grief 48. Forgiveness 49. Acceptance 50. Love All of these things mean that I am ALIVE. ~Niko Matenopoulos ~ 1940-2012 Happy heavenly birthday Baba. We’ve been here without you for 12 years and it seems just like yesterday but also like a lifetime ago. The world has changed so much since then. I often think about what you’d make of it all. We had a worldwide pandemic where everyone was locked in their homes for nearly two years, we have cars that drive themselves and AI has allowed people to recreate fake images and voices of people that actually look and sound real. I think part of you would be fascinated and part of you would be petrified. But most of you would be your fun loving, funny, laid back self that would always smile and say in your very thick Greek accent, “Eh, no big deal, calm down, take it easy.” You always had a way of making even the most overwhelming situations feel like everything was gonna be just fine. I try to carry your words with me when I need guidance. I think of what you would tell me to do and I do just that. Even though you’re not here physically, I know you are here with me and our family. I see you in everything still. I hear and see all the signs you send and I love it when you do. It makes me smile from ear to ear and I always say, “Hi dad.” I know you hear me. I love you and miss you so much Baba and wish that I could hug you and hear your big boisterous laugh and see you holding court everywhere we go. But for now, I’ll be thankful and grateful and cherish all the signs you send me from heaven to bring me peace and warm my heart, until we meet again baba. Your memory will be eternal. I love you! 🙏🪽

In case you missed it my incredibly talented @theviewabc sister @sherrishowtv had me on her amazing daytime talk show to promote my new cookbook “Greekish” and I could not have had a better time. I have been on a lot of shows over the years and while they’ve all been great, this one felt extra special. From the minute I stepped into the building everyone was beyond warm and welcoming and kind and happy to be there and just overall at ease. I wanted to take a minute to point this out because believe it or not it’s not always like that in our business. Although, our job is to give information, have fun and entertain the audience, unfortunately it’s not always the same behind the scenes. People can sometimes be unnecessarily rude, unpleasant and snippy, which can make your time on set miserable. I always find it strange when people act like that, given we are all so fortunate to be playing in the “entertainment sandbox”. When there is a stressed vibe it usually stems from the top of the food chain and trickles down. When people are happy, it also comes from the top. And in this case everyone at @sherrishowtv was beyond happy.
