One of the big things we’ve been working on as a family is mindfulness—particularly being mindful of our footprint and how we can make better choices when it comes to where and how we source our food, the activities we take part in, and how we get around when on holiday. In all honesty, we hadn’t really looked through this lens before when traveling. While we’ve always been about supporting local, we hadn’t actively incorporated conservation into our holiday planning.
So, we decided to try a family holiday completely powered by nature—and we LOVED it! 💥✨
We hired our first electric vehicle. Once we figured out how to turn it on (😂), we were so impressed by its responsiveness, the fact that we could look things up on YouTube when the car was parked, and that we only had to charge it once before returning it. @sixtnewzealand 🧡
We stayed at Kinloch Wilderness Retreat, a certified B-Corp and the place where we got married 🥰. This amazing spot is incredibly sustainable, with all their outdoor activities—e-bikes, e-scooters, and kayaking—powered by nature. Their menu is locally sourced, featuring products from amazing Kiwi companies, and their friendly chickens provide more than enough eggs foreveryone’s breakfast 🐔🍳. @kinlochwildernessretreat.nz
We also took a few cold plunges as a family to give ourselves a bit of a rev-up. Guess what? We loved it so much that we bought our own ice bath to enjoy at home! 🛁💧 @theicebath_nz
