I’m delighted to share the cover of my forthcoming book.
This is a book about power – how it can be used and abused. How it can serve the powerless, but too often protects the powerful. In it I examine key issues that came across my desk both as Home Secretary and as Prime Minister.
Available to pre-order now – link in bio.

Four years ago, I announced that the UK will eradicate its contribution to climate change by 2050.
I was convinced that it was the right decision, partly because of personal experience.
Over more than a quarter of a century I have been walking in Switzerland, and I have seen how our great glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate.
And as Prime Minister, I was exposed to the suffering experienced by people in countries vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
I met world leaders who told me of the existential threat of rising sea levels, many of them representing Commonwealth nations.
And I met citizens of small states, whose livelihoods are already being destroyed and whose homes will be underwater in a matter of years.
I decided that a major developed country needed to lead – and I thought that it should be Britain.
The green transition is a huge global growth opportunity – but four years after our target was set, the UK is now facing intense international competition.
I spoke to the Aldersgate Group yesterday about why we must match our ambition with delivery.

It was a privilege to be introduced to the @ukhouseoflords today. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the work of Parliament and public life over the years ahead.
It was an honour to present @yulia_navalnaya with a @womenofyear Award. She is a symbol of resilience and courage, advocating for justice and reform in Russia after her husband’s death at the hands of President Putin’s regime.

A pleasure to make my maiden speech in the @ukhouseoflords today on accelerating efforts towards tackling climate change.
Each year we pay tribute at the Cenotaph to the courage of our brave armed forces. We owe the freedom we enjoy today to their sacrifice. Today and every day, we will remember them. #lestweforget
This week I joined HM The Queen at @ucl where diabetes charity @jdrf_uk is funding groundbreaking research into autoimmune conditions.
Very proud to be a JDRF Ambassador – a charity whose decades of funding & research has been critical to the development of new treatments.

This week I was in Davos to speak at #wef25 on modern slavery and human trafficking. By raising the political momentum on this issue and encouraging greater collaboration, we can eradicate this heinous crime and free the more than 50 million victims worldwide.

Last week I was at #COP29 pushing for a step change in global climate action. As average temperatures are on course to exceed the 1.5 degree limit this year, it is vital that we act decisively today to protect our planet and our people.

It’s time that social media platforms take action to ensure they cannot be used for child sexual exploitation or the grooming of children online.
It’s been a pleasure to be in New Haven as a senior fellow at @yale – contributing to their global affairs work and teaching the next generation of thinkers about the importance of democracy in a changing world. I’m looking forward to returning later this semester.

I was delighted to join the Aldersgate Group and @ed_miliband to discuss #COP29 and what comes next. It is vital that businesses and governments continue to work together to drive climate action and unlock economically effective solutions.
“Ukrainians are fighting for their independence and their sovereignty – principles which should be defended by all of us who value or benefit from economic and democratic freedom.” My comments in Parliament yesterday.
