Right now, if you want to get most birth control pills, you have to: 📱 Make a doctor’s appointment 🏥 Take time off work or find childcare 💵 Pay your co-pay 💊 Pick up your medication from a pharmacy That’s a lot of hoops to jump through for a routine prescription. So today, we’re making it a little easier. Today’s bills will save Michiganders several trips to the doctor’s office, help lower their out-of-pocket costs, and recognize pharmacists as an important part of every person’s healthcare team. I’m excited that we’re continuing to build on our good work by making contraception even more accessible. Here in Michigan, we believe that women deserve to make their own decisions about their own health care in partnership with trusted medical professionals and loved ones.
3️⃣0️⃣ states already allow pharmacists to prescribe contraceptives. This is a commonsense policy that’s good for patients and providers.
For 39 years, Michigan has proudly honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a great American whose courage and vision continues to inspire us all. Dr. King challenged us to dream big, fight hard, and work together to create a more just and equal society. As we celebrate his legacy, let’s recommit ourselves to carrying forward his example through service, kindness, and action.
Today, I signed three commonsense bills to keep our kids safe at school and reduce gun violence across the state of Michigan. Unfortunately, we are all too familiar with this issue. Guns are the number one killer of young people in this country. It’s a uniquely American problem. Here in Michigan, we all remember Oxford and MSU. And we know there are lives lost to senseless gun violence every month. Today, I’m proud to sign commonsense bills into law that will make a real difference. Here’s what these bills mean for you and your family. First, we’re requiring every school to create a behavioral threat assessment team. These teams will identify students or staff who pose a danger to themselves or others and ensure they have a process in place to respond to concerning behaviors and proactively intervene. Second, all schools will use the same language when it comes to school safety so law enforcement can respond efficiently on the ground in case of an emergency. Third, MDHHS will develop informational material on safe storage that districts can send to families, so students and parents have the information they need to stay safe at home. Finally, let’s ensure all firearms turned in through the Michigan State Police’s buyback program are destroyed and not stripped for parts to be resold. For too long, resold gun parts have been used to make more weapons that go out into our streets, putting families at risk. I’m so grateful to everyone who worked hard to get these bills across the finish line. In the last few years, we’ve taken action to save lives and reduce gun violence. ✔️ Universal background checks ✔️ Extreme risk protection orders ✔️ Safe storage requirements ✔️ Stronger penalties for those convicted of domestic violence These are commonsense steps supported by a majority of Michiganders. We still have a lot of work to do, and I’m ready to work with anyone who wants to protect public safety and reduce gun violence. In 2025, we’ll stay focused on keeping people safe and making sure Michigan is the best state to live, work, and grow up.
Here in Michigan, we’ve shown what’s possible when we stand together, trust women, and refuse to go backward. But let’s be clear: this fight is far from over. Let’s honor the legacy of Roe v. Wade by continuing the fight for reproductive freedom.
It’s playoff szn, Michigan! 🏈
Michigan is a state on the rise that’s turning doubters into dreamers. But there’s always more to do.

The auto industry isn’t just changing—it’s transforming into an auto ecosystem, and Michigan needs to own it from top to bottom. Michigan doesn’t follow. We lead. Let’s dominate this new era together.
We’re opening doors to the outdoors for every Michigander. Parks like the Mundy Miracle Commons are prioritizing accessibility and helping us build a Michigan that works for everyone. Let’s keep breaking down barriers to enjoy our beautiful state 🌳
Since I took office, automakers and suppliers have invested a combined $40 billion into Michigan. Today, we’re home to nearly a fifth of all North American auto production. Everyone knows someone whose family and future relies on Michigan making cars and trucks.
All grit, no quit.

Here in Michigan, we’ve made historic investments in education – but we have to face some hard truths. Our students are struggling, and more needs to be done. That’s why I’m proposing we get SMART on education by targeting investments and improving transparency for parents.
Mundy Miracle Commons is setting the gold standard for accessibility as the largest ADA park in Michigan. That’s 9️⃣9️⃣ acres of woodlands, wetlands, 1.8 miles of paved accessible paths, and more. By removing barriers, we’re building a Michigan that works for everyone.
