It’s going to be hot today, so Kevin and Doug wanted me to remind you to keep your pets safe in the heat – fill up their bowls with lots of cool water to stay hydrated, don’t go for walks on hot asphalt, and never leave your four-legged friends in a hot car 🐶☀️
As commander-in-chief of @minationalguard, I was proud to attend the @ngaus.hq conference in Detroit this weekend and honored to receive the Truman Award. Our National Guard members are always ready to protect and defend us and the rule of law. Thank you for your service.

I’m here in Flint with Sheriff Swanson to celebrate today’s IGNITE graduates! The IGNITE program is a model for communities across the nation. When we invest in innovative public safety programs, we keep Michigan safe and put people on track for success.
Today, we honor the memory of those we lost on September 11, 2001, the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation, and the families who have carried the weight of loss every day since. We have the honor of living in the greatest country in the world. Patriot Day is a reminder that in our darkest moments, we find strength in each other, and we must always stand together to protect our nation #NeverForget
Michigan is stronger because of our diversity. I’m proud to celebrate the incredible Hispanic Americans who call our state home. As we honor Hispanic Heritage Month, let’s continue to build a state that reflects the values of equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
Here in Michigan, all public-school students get free breakfast and lunch. That’s a big deal for students like Olivia and her sister. As they both grow and take on new responsibilities, one thing they won’t have to worry about is making sure they have something to eat at school.
Are you voting early? By mail? Heading to the polls? No matter what your voting plan is, you can get all your election questions answered by going to michigan.gov/vote – and encourage your friends to go too!
Investing in classrooms makes a big difference for students. While you did your back-to-school shopping, I signed a balanced, bipartisan education budget that raises per-student funding to another all-time high, giving every Michigan student the support they need to succeed.
No one is as excited about being back in school as Jett and Kit. Jett is a 3rd grader this year, and Kit is starting 1st grade. With enthusiasm like theirs, I know they’ve got everything they need to make this a great school year.

Investing in Michigan’s students means investing in our future. While students were enjoying their summer vacations, I signed my sixth balanced education budget, ensuring every student has the resources they need the make this the best school year yet.
Women’s Equality Day is a chance to reflect and celebrate our progress in the fight for women’s rights. In Michigan, equality and prosperity for everyone are at the core of who we are – let’s keep breaking down barriers and building a stronger future for all women.
Here in Michigan, reproductive freedom is non-negotiable.
Michigan is a leader on the global stage, and it’s an honor to share our state’s story with leaders from South Korea. Together we’re strengthening a relationship that’s brought jobs, investment, and economic prosperity to Michigan, making a real difference for both our countries.
To these IGNITE graduates: I want you to know that I’m proud of you. Your families are proud of you. And you should be proud of yourselves. The degrees and certificates you earned will help you reenter the world, get a job, and make your communities stronger.

We’ve made historic investments in our teachers and schools, and for many, school is back in session this week. Our dedicated teachers have been hard at work getting their classrooms ready and preparing for the first day, and I wish you all a wonderful school year 🍎
As summer vacation wraps up for our students, how did you do on your summer reading challenge? 📖 All across Michigan, libraries encouraged kids to keep reading and learning during summer break, improving literacy and helping them prepare for the school year ahead.
We’re giving every Michigan public school student free breakfast and lunch – and letting them pick their favorite foods! 🍎 With plenty of options, kids like Ahsin’s daughter will be happier, healthier and fueled up as they head into the classroom.
Getting ready for the school year takes a lot of work, and it’s not just students and teachers celebrating the first day back. Let’s thank the dedicated cafeteria workers, librarians, janitors, secretaries, and everyone in between working hard to make this another great year!
It’s the end of the first week for many Michigan students, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the hardworking bus drivers picking them up and dropping them off on time. Be sure to thank your bus drivers and wish them a great school year too!
Making education more affordable and accessible is a game-changer. We’re helping Michiganders like Marcos earn a degree or skills certificate without paying a dime for tuition. A quality education can open doors to find a good-paying job, helping more people make it in Michigan.
