Thinking of @coleen_nolan and the whole Nolan family today. Linda was a fabulous lady xxx
You might think it would be a relatively easy thing to put up a happy 18th birthday post to your darling daughter, Bonnie It is not. There are strict rules governing such things, apparently. No photos should be posted without prior approval.. No baby pictures, no ‘funny’ pictures , no photomontages. Failure to comply will result in a severe reprimand. The wording of the post is also strictly regulated. No gushiness, no embarrassing anecdotes- keep it brief. Again, there will be penalties for noncompliance. In the light of these restrictions, I will conclude this post by saying :- happy birthday pumpkin pie/lemon puff/apple strudel. Thank God, you are legal at last. Lots of love, mumsywumsy and dadsywadsy xxx ps we couldn’t have chosen a better name for you x #embarassingparents #18thbirthday #18thbirthday❤️ #happy18th #mumanddaughter
Is it too predictable to put up a picture of your mum on International Women’s Day? Maybe …but she ticks all my boxes. Born in 1933 ( she would kill me for revealing that publicly) , she wasn’t a great cook and even worse at the laundry. Many a jumper did not survive ‘the wash’. She was rarely home when I got back from school and I can’t recall her ever attending a sports day . And yet I would not change a single atom of her . She was hard-working , fearless, ambitious and smart. She bowed to no-pne and certainly not to any man and that was what my Dad loved about her ( most of the time 🤪) They were both strong characters and neither pulled their metaphorical punches but their near 60 year long marriage truly was one of equals . As I say, she ticks all my boxes on International Women’s’ Day #iwd #iwd2025 #internationalwomensday2025 #mumanddaughter❤️
Character over charisma—because when the stakes are high, showmen and keyboard warriors won’t cut it. What matters most to you in a leader?
I don’t usually post things like this on Instagram, but I’ve had this on my mind all day. The headlines say Fulham Football Club protected the women footballers—they didn’t. They protected the abuser. This is exactly why abuse continues, because instead of calling out the person responsible, they’re allowed to move on and do it elsewhere. It’s time we stop protecting the wrong people.
In this week’s How To Be 60 Midweek episode, I share the behind the scenes of the Great Declutter With the brilliant team of Ali and Jo at @sorted.home.organisers by my side (I lie… they did all the work), I finally tackled years of clutter—but it wasn’t as simple as just throwing things in a black bag. From emotional decisions about sentimental items to the sheer relief of seeing my home transformed, I’m opening up about what it was really like to let go! If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to finally clear out the chaos, this episode gives you the behind-the-scenes story of how I faced it all (and survived to tell the tale!). Have you tackled a decluttering project? I’d love to hear about it—email me at [email protected] or let me know in the comments.

Currently, I’m being accused of having poor judgement on the How To Be Sixty podcast because Ian’s got this idea about moving to Spain for two months every winter. And I’m like, really? I mean, have you seen the place? The sky’s way too blue, the sea’s far too salty, and the beach—ugh, so sandy. Who would possibly want to spend their winter here?Right? Right?!
AD | “I haven’t deleted their names, Mum and Dad are still on my phone” Kaye tells us about her experiences of grief as part of our collaboration with Sue Ryder. @alancummingreally …. #Where do we even start? From The Good Wife to Cabaret, The Traitors to name a few. But, truth be told, my first real love wasn’t any of those. It was @victorandbarry who truly stole my heart. The wit, the humour, the chaos—utter genius.
