Back from Japan. The weather didn’t always play ball, but we still managed the full set – modern cities, peaceful temples, cherry blossoms at just the right moment, and a pleasing amount of crazy quirkiness. The kids were brilliant – part travel guides, part shepherds – while Ian and I trailed behind trying to work out which way was north. Spoiler: usually the wrong one. Never quite mastered the subway. But if a journey doesn’t involve three changes, a u-turn, and a heated family discussion, did you even go to Japan? #japan #japantravel #familyholiday
First weekend back after Japan and jet lag is just about wearing off — but I had to show you this. Ian gave me a thank-you present when we got back… and honestly, I don’t know whether to laugh, cry or run. It’s a very beautiful (and very sharp) Japanese knife, apparently engraved with my name in Japanese. Which is… thoughtful? Terrifying? Anyway, it got me thinking — what’s the weirdest or most unexpected gift you’ve ever received? Drop a comment or email us at [email protected] — and yes, photos very welcome.
The wonderful @catherinerussell529 posted the most joyful little video celebrating her 60th on TikTok a couple of days ago, and it stopped me in my tracks. Particularly when she talked about how important it is to actually celebrate getting older, especially as a woman. Not just tolerate it, or hide it under Botox and hair dye, but to say: I’ve made it this far, and that’s something to be proud of. I’m a couple of years ahead of her, and after years of all the angst and faffing and dread… I’m finally with her on this. It is a marvellous bloody thing. This stage of life is where we finally get to ask: What do I actually want now? So Catherine, happy birthday, and thank you. You’ve said something a lot of us needed to hear. And for those of you reading, how do you feel about getting older? Have you hit that turning point yet, where you stop fighting it and start enjoying it? Or does it still feel like a bit of a battle?
Comment THRIVING and I’ll DM you a link to the episode “We’ve never felt more in demand.” At 62, @nadinebaggott is thriving. At 70, @middleagedminx is loving life. Neither is slowing down. This week on How to Be 60, we talk ageing without apology — and on this episode, we: – Call out the myth that life (or work) slows down after 60 – Hear why Jo’s calendar is still packed — and why she’s fine without sex or a partner – Learn why Nadine says she’s never been busier – Talk reinvention, energy, and refusing to fade into the background 🎧 New episode out now
On this week’s How To Be 60, @karenmhtb60 and I sit down with rugby legend @scotthastings13 , who speaks with raw honesty about love, loss, and rebuilding a life after losing his wife and teenage sweetheart, Jenny, after 45 years together. We cover • loving someone through mental illness • grief that lives beside joy • why kindness matters more than ever • how you keep going when the future you imagined disappears Find it anywhere you listen to your podcast, just search How To Be 60.
You’ve heard me talk about it on the How To Ve 60 podcast. Now you can see the chaos for yourself. @angus.ashworth came round to help me dig through the house to see if anything was actually worth sending to auction. Watch me hunt for hidden treasure, try to stay calm, and then mildly panic at the thought that nothing might sell at @theyorkshireauctionhouse Tonight 7pm on @reallytvchannel
Spring has officially arrived, and my podcast pal Karen McKenzie is embracing it with confidence! At 65, she’s considering a bit of topless sunbathing, inspired by Linda Lissardi’s bold approach to aging with grace. It raises an interesting question — would you feel comfortable baring it all in your 60s? Let us know your thoughts on confidence, body positivity, and embracing life at any age.
On this week’s Midweek, we talk about why you need a friend like @janepmoore – someone who can not only rescue you from the hell of incoming Christmas office parties, but also remind you (with alarming accuracy) that you’re absolutely not as young or nimble as you think you are. We also tumble straight into the rest of the December mayhem: Karen accidentally sleeping through chemo while the nurses wait to go home, the slow disappearance of her right eyebrow, and a birthday dinner so disastrous it required an emergency packet of chocolate éclairs to survive it. Whether you’re counting sleeping tablets like an advent calendar or realising your jumpers now look suspiciously like your mother’s, this episode hits every “oh… right, I’m definitely getting older” note. On tomorrow’s Loose Women: The Podcast, Kaye & Frankie talk all things ageing, anxiety, acceptance and so much more🎙️ Watch on YouTube or ITVX or listen via Global Player or your usual podcast provider. #loosewomen #loosewomenthepodcast
It’s our third anniversary episode this Wednesday but before that we’d love to hear what your best bits have been, who your favourite guests have been and who you’d love to see popping up in this next year!
💬 Comment SCARED and I’ll DM you the link. on today’s midweek episode, we celebrate our third year anniversary and I discovered the fact that Karin was scared of me And she’s only told me now — three years in. We also get into our fears friendship, sex after 60, and why I apparently terrify half the people I work with (charming). It’s warm, it’s awkward, and yes — there’s cake.
Ally’s email this week on the How To Be 60 podcast reignited an idea I’ve been holding onto for a while now — and I’d genuinely love your thoughts. What if we created How To Be 60 groups? Online, in person, whatever fits. A space for women at this stage of life to connect, share challenges, try new things, make new friends… or just argue over the correct rules of Bananagrams. It’s only in its early, embryonic stages, but maybe it’s time to bring it forward. Would you join? Would you want one near you? Let us know in the comments
Comment JAPAN and we’ll DM you the link. You know you’re getting old when what really excites you on holiday… is a heated toilet seat. Berlin brought the kebabs, Tokyo brought the toilets — and neither trip was quite what we expected. From lost streets to egg sandwich epiphanies, this week’s Midweek Catchup is peak midlife chaos (with a side of sex dungeon speculation).
Do you still buy advent calendars? On this week’s How To Be 60 Midweek episode, that’s just one of the many questions causing far more drama than it should. But that’s only the start. This week also heads straight into Christmas chaos, medical detours, stubborn husbands, and the kind of festive nonsense that always seems to appear out of nowhere once you hit your sixties. If you’ve ever found yourself panic-buying, sleep-deprived, or debating whether “chocolate-flavoured chocolate” should be allowed in the house, you’ll feel very seen. Full episode is live now. Send us your thoughts at [email protected] .

Everyone says 60 is the big one. But for @middleagedminx, it was turning 70 that changed everything. Not because of the number — but because, for the first time, she realised life isn’t endless. There are only so many springs left. Is it 70 – not 60 – that really hits different? What age hit different for you… or are you still waiting for it?
In this week’s Midweek Catchup, we find out what Stephen did to trigger that exact response — plus a round-up of the best (and worst) gifts you’ve shared with us: lethal knives, cling film dispensers, romantic tuna… you name it. Because no one tells you that turning 60 means presents go from exciting to mildly threatening. Comment GIFTS and I’ll DM you the link to listen.
Cheating Red Flags, Puppy Love, Imposter Syndrome and so much more, all coming up on episode 4 of Loose Women: The Podcast, with Kaye & Judi🎙 Listen tomorrow on Global Player or wherever you get your podcasts, or watch on ITVX, STV Player or Youtube. #loosewomenthepodcast #loosewomen
SUNBATH – Comment this to get the link! Topless sunbathing – liberating or outdated? Karen swears it’s the best feeling ever, but I’m not so sure. Are you still brave enough to whip them out on the beach, or is that ship well and truly sailed? And is there anything else you used to do in your younger years that you’d never dream of now? Let me know!
This week’s guest is startupschoolforseniors and she’s not just lifting the lid on sex after 60… she’s throwing it across the room.
