Across the two weeks I spent in France, I got lots of messages asking why I wasn’t posting more. This was my dream trip, after all. But not all is as it seems. There were late nights, tears, heartbreak, grief, hard work—but most of all, there was humanity. So much humanity. While I was in Lyon, my uncle passed away. Navigating that loss from afar was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Not all parts of the journey are pleasant, but not all parts of the storm are unbearable. Grateful for the focus in alignment and the lessons learned. Thankful for the kind hugs, laughs, and embraces even when my heart was breaking. Grateful for the odysseys alongside my friend Reyna, whose resilience taught me so much. Grateful for Xico, whose ingenuity and talent blew me away. Grateful for every human along the way. Because of how much we worked in Lyon, I didn’t get to eat in as many places as I wish I would have but still when I had the chance, after coming here with @reynaa.venegas on a quick lunch trip, I had to go back on my last day in Lyon. @bistrotabel was hands down my fave meal and I will forever remember the crispy and perfect sweetbreads in an exquisite morel cream sauce. And my first time trying Saint Marcellin cheese and being blown away. Thank you Reyna, for giving me moments of happiness across the hard work.
