All the fives… 5 years since I last stepped into a @bbc5live studio in Salford – my broadcasting home for 5 years. It felt bloody wonderful to be back with the mighty @bbc5live listeners and with the wonderful @skysarahjane for her first show standing in for brilliant @tvnaga All the feels. Nostalgia for a different time is dizzying isn’t it? Going back into the office I found myself missing a lot of great people I loved making a daily three hour programme with – but also revelling in the memories while making a brew in the very familiar kitchen (still kitted out with the same lethal instant hissing boiling hot water tap) before going on air to talk all things #maternityservice It was when I was hosting my 5live programme I actually went off on my first tour of loving duty – so it felt particularly appropriate to come back and talk about my observations from my second and final maternity service. The vibe outside the studio as the programme is made live and guests booked on the fly – is the same and it felt really special to go back in. Jonathan Bryan has severe cerebral palsy, a condition that makes him incapable of voluntary movement or speech. Until he was nine- years-old Jonathan was unable to write. But using his eyes like a finger pointing, or a pencil, his mother taught him to read and write.

This week on #TheUKTonight we have explored the call from bereaved families for ‘Graduated Driving Licences’ #GDLs @danwnews travelled to Canada to find out how initial restrictions on young drivers after passing their test have seen the number of fatalities and serious injuries drop by 80% I spoke to Sharron Huddleston and Dr Ian Greenwood whose daughters Caitlin (18yrs) and Alice (12yrs) were killed in road collisions – inexperience behind the wheel caused their deaths and they believe if the UK had GDLs they would still be with them today.
