Evanna Lynch Instagram – A lucky little gnome I was given by a fan named Marlène when I was visiting Montpellier last month. I never got to thank her so I thought I would post it as it gives me soooo much joy 🥰Tiny little weeny things like make me so happy. The idea that in this ridiculous world where you wake up to an unfathomable number of problems and you have to decide which one to tackle today, someone somewhere decided ‘I’m gonna make the tiniest gnome ever and that will be my contribution to humanity today 😀’ is so fucking sweet! It’s absurd and brilliant to make something this small.
It got me thinking about art class when I was younger. We’d be given these huge startlingly white sheets of paper and told to draw whatever. I got a lot of encouragement for my enthusiasm for these drawing sessions but there was one consistent criticism that bothered me: ‘everything is too small. You have the whole sheet of paper, why not use this space?’ I’d look at the rest of the page and feel so much stress, all these blank white expanses that I’d never have the time to fill with colours as the small detailed drawings I did took so, so much time. The thought of taking on the whole page made me want to cry. I think that’s how I feel about the world most days so it’s best to just focus on one tiny detail and give it my fullest attention. So small things are very stabilising.

I always mean to but then I overthink the captions and don’t get round to it.
