Hair has never looked better. Sometimes when I’m commuting I think of random lyrics. This time it was ‘maybe the times aren’t so bad after all’. Nothing groundbreaking I know but, hopeful at least. Been questioning what my true taste in music is. The only thing that makes sense to me is whatever the musical equivalent of literary fiction is. I know that’s not a music genre but it feels like it should be. Madison Cunningham has instilled some sense of magic back into me.
Aditi is a songwriter-composer known for her old-world charm and lyrical deftness. Better known under her nom de plume Dot., she started making waves in the independent music space with songs like ‘Everybody Dances to Techno’ in 2017. These were self shot videos uploaded to her YouTube from her university practice rooms in Wales. Dot’s debut album ‘Khamotion’ released in July 2021 to critical acclaim, followed by 2022 singles ‘Pink Roller Skates’ and ‘Wes Anderson’; studio releases of former YouTube-only songs. Dot. has also starred in Zoya Akhtar’s film ‘The Archies’ as an actor, singer and composer – she plays Ethel Muggs in the adaptation, along with composing and performing multiple songs on the film’s soundtrack (including her own ‘Asymmetrical’). @dotandthesyllables is now exclusively managed by #LevelHouse
Last month I started ‘Banana Club’ for people to come together and learn different fiber arts. Our August session was all about the basics of crochet. I’ve been crafting for a really long time, learning from YouTube videos and patterns on Ravelry. While I love the endless depths of tutorial internet, I wanted to create a space where people could learn from each other and enjoy each other’s company in person. The next session will be in October at @harkat.studios again and I hope that those of you who would like to learn a new skill and take part in a crafting community will join! Banana Club is back this October with two crochet workshops! Ticket link in bio 2:00 – 3:30 PM Crochet Basics (Beginners) A beginner-friendly session for anyone who’s never held a hook before. We’ll go over the basic stitches and techniques while making simple coasters. 3:30 – 5:00 PM Crochet Intarsia (Advanced Beginners) For those who already know the basics and want to try working with colour. We’ll explore intarsia and make a small patterned tapestry piece. — Both workshops include materials and are designed to be small, hands-on sessions. You can join either one or stay for both 🌻
