I want to tell you a story, because it’s too good not to and because the eternal mystic and mythic storyteller in me keeps encouraging me to speak. The absolute wild thing about making ‘We Met in December’ was the presence of my maternal grandmother Bea, who has long passed on. My dress for the final scene mirrored her homemade wedding dress. The scene location mirrored her wedding day. Two hand-sewn red & green dresses, on the steps of a church, intertwining across time & dimensions and coming together to tell this tale for Christmas. The weaving took my breath away… and I’ll have more of the story to tell you tomorrow. Thank you to all who watched our film last night!!! We felt the love!!! ♥️

🪡 I want to tell you more of the story… In ‘We Met in December’, my character Annie’s most treasured possession is her grandmother’s sewing machine. She holds a secret dream to return to creating beautiful things with her hands. Much of this year for me has already been about re-weaving (those of you following my Ireland journey know that is a huge part of the work we were doing there with @sacredsistersretreats – reweaving ancestral patterns that have corrupted the roots). My final day on the film was this scene — Annie sewing with her grandmother’s machine. It’s meant to be tender, resolved, connected and ultimately life-changing for her. Two days before filming this scene, my sister, who wasn’t even aware I was working on a movie, texts me out of the blue with this question — “Any chance you would like to have Grandma’s sewing machine?” Yes. Yes I would. On a purely mystical level, how could I say no? I learned so much from revisiting this part of my heritage. The women in my maternal line were/are accomplished sewers, artisans and crafters, weaving their love through paper, paint and pieces of thread. I, too, was taught to sew at a young age but moved away from it in my late twenties. To revisit the softness in my lineage and be reminded of the love and beauty that can be woven not just with our words, but with our hands? What a gift.✨ Thank you Grandma Bea, for sending me your sewing machine to help me remember. Thank you to my sister for following the call. Thank you to the ancestors for helping me re-weave the threads of my mind and for reminding me about my roots. And thank you to @hallmarkchannel for allowing me to continue to tell women’s stories in such a loving and wide-reaching way. May our work continue to weave threads of love around the world. 🪡

The Store: Love at the Core 🍏 I’d been hoping for a chance to volunteer with @thestore_nashville for quite a while after hearing about it from friends — but life magically arranged that it would get to happen this fall. I love that when I finally got to be here it was with @ashleywilliamsandcompany and my @hallmarkchannel fam. I love all the workers who pour so much thoughtfulness into this place and the community they’re supporting and building. I love their cute little apple-heart logo and their slogan ‘Love at the Core.’ It’s so clearly the truth of how they walk in their mission to address local food insecurity with dignity, empathy and yes, love. 🫶 In times like these, we all need each other. @bradpaisley & @kimberlywilliamspaisley are showing us how it gets done. So if you’re looking for a special place to support today, make it The Store:) You can visit @thestore_nashville’s Instagram page to learn more about their mission, or type DONATE and I’ll send you a link!

✨Winter Solstice at Newgrange✨ Built over 5,000 years ago, on winter solstice a sliver of light illuminates the inner chambers of this sacred site, bringing light to what has been hidden, even on the darkest day of the year. My visit here earlier this year felt like time out of time. Both disorienting and clarifying. New and old. A remembrance and a return. I’m still integrating and receiving its gifts…Today on the darkest day of the year, through its very architecture, this beautiful place speaks to humanity, and to you: “Even in darkness, there is faith. Even in darkness, there is love. Even in darkness, there is stored the seed of light.” ✨ Some questions to guide you tonight in the darkness: – What within you is ready to be illuminated? – What truths are ready to be seen & spoken? – Where are you ready to stand in your light? Happy Solstice, friends:) ☀️

For those feeling tender or exhausted right now: We’ve been taught to move through life in a straight line, full steam ahead, like an arrow seeking its mark. But if you look outside, nature is teaching us otherwise. She shows us that the energy on this planet moves in cycles, in spirals, in days and nights, in seasons. So, I invite you to consider this: Maybe you’re not stuck. Maybe you’re not lazy. Maybe these are just signs that your body isn’t ready to go forward yet. Maybe you’re “wintering.” 💖
I’m feeling ready to get back in the saddle for the new year… maybe this will help. 😉 @tanqueverderidingclub @saguarocompanystore @_its.jackson @stellaeftekar @finneusjames @dashiellford
