Mary Steenburgen Instagram – Something very thrilling in my life is happening that I want to share!! A few years ago, songwriters Caitlyn Smith and Kate York joined me to write a song for an upcoming film called Wild Rose. The film told the story of a Scottish woman who dreamt of being a Nashville singer-songwriter. This beautiful film by writer Nicole Taylor has been made into a stage musical, book also written by Nicole, directed by the great John Tiffany and it’s about to premier at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Winona Judd, Carrie Underwood and Patty Griffin also have songs in the musical. Our song, Glasgow, No Place Like Home, was a joy to write, and even brought us the immense honor of tying with Sir Elton John for the Critic’s Choice Award! And now, a musical!!Break a leg to the extraordinary cast of Wild Rose on your opening night, March 14, in Edinburgh! And here is a little tease of the glorious Dawn Sievewright, as Rose, singing a bit of our song, Glasgow.
