One of my favourite scenes to perform. A long time ago and the combination of nerves and the script got me rather dramatic haaha. #bardaasth was a special film as honestly I genuinely feel about all the films I act, have acted and will act in. Each special in their own way. With lots of learnings and wonderful casts and crew to learn from. Here a #flashbackfriday . Thanks to my manager / secretary at the time, Tiwariji, I met the producers and director, @eniwas and was cast as the innocent looking but disturbed, Ramona. Having recently acted with dear @riteishd and @larabhupathi in Masti, I was happy to collaborate again and soon as I met lovely @iambobbydeol and the rest I was totally at ease. They were so friendly, helpful and warm. And ofcourse fab @rahuldevofficial , who I knew through common friends. All in all those few days of day and night shoots were packed with excitement. Recently with the sad news of superstar Dharamji’s passing, I was reminded of visiting his lovely farmhouse in Lonavala when we shot Bardaasth. Fab Bob and amazing @taniadeol invited me over and as a relative newcomer I was so touched by their warmth. Thanks are due to #akshayekhanna too as he had introduced us. I was so nervous. I am always nervous when I perform. Some nerves I believe are good but sometimes I am aware of my face trembling with nerves so I often wonder if co actors think I am nuts or if others experience this too. The nerves often lessen as I get deeper into a project but I recently read how even a super star star like Shahrukh speaks of how on every new film he is a bit nervous. So I guess it is a thing. Started a shoot yesterday for something exciting. I am only a little role in it but even after all this time and 27 ish films, many ads and shows, nervousness when action is called, still grips me. I hope it helps me perform better. Sometimes it makes me fumble lines. But all in all it makes me feel excited, love acting and alive! While I don’t get to act as much as I’d like to, I feel so grateful for when I do. So thanks all who take, took and will take this slight nutty actress me into your projects! Never met her but as I appeared in a few Lakmé ads way back and more recently invest a bit in Trent, thanks to her amazing Westside vision, I have a lot of respect for her. A little appreciation post. Being of mixed heritage myself, half Indian half English with my amazing Eng mum very much living here in Bombay for over 50 years now, I have a soft spot for these adventurous, amazing adaptable women who left what was perhaps a seemingly easier life to love and make India home and bring up their mixed families, us, here. A long full life. 95.. So less perhaps a mourning post and more a celebration of a life well lived and legacy of vision, empathy and more. Deepest condolences to all her family and loved ones.
