“Lota, why are you always running?” “Lota, are you training for a marathon?” Well, indeed I am!! I wanted to run in the 2025 marathon but thanks to a busted Achilles in 2024 and getting bedridden, all I ended up running was my mouth. I’m used to doing hard things, but this is probably the hardest one I’m embarking on because why am I being taught a lot else in the process??? From overcoming injuries and going back to a 5k base training without shame, to a 10k training, to training and then running my first half marathon to getting here; I’d to say I’ll be running a marathon this year, but I’d rather say “I’ll be running my FIRST marathon this year. Also, it’s been such a pleasure meeting the running community in Lagos. Such a special and wonderful experience. Grateful for this entire process. Truly. Here’s to doing hard things in 2026 and submitting to total obedience 🙏🏾❤️ 🥂

You people know me I like epistles and I think this might be my first one in a minute. Been a while I posted a photo in real time, but this is.. well, sorta. Yesterday was a very interesting day, for a lot of reasons. I have lived a lot of lives, I have loved a lot, but the last couple of months, are probably the happiest I’ve been in my entire life. I have been reminded everyday for the last couple of months how amazing I am and I’m finally starting to believe it. Thanks to my baby dragon @ettajomaria and my baby beast @_threashure, I started my day crying. They made me watch the video on video call for the first time and yeah, I ended up crying through it… what else is new? Yesterday, I understood intentionality on a whole other level. @jemimaosunde was very intentional about me having a great day and she made sure I didn’t do otherwise! I was a little sad when I realized I hadn’t arranged for flowers, so imagine my surprise when someone across oceans, made sure I had flowers waiting for me when I woke up. Last year, I learned a lot about myself and for the first time in my life, I didn’t sacrifice myself for the knowledge. This year is going to be kind to me, because I won’t accept anything else. This year will be my best yet. I know I say it a lot, it’s always true. Every year lately seems better than the last. I am grateful and humbled that there are people who really really love me, who’d follow me to the ends of the earth. That says something about who I am, and who I’ve become and I think I like that.
