Dug up some old photos recently and found this one from the Tibetan monastery…getting my head shaved the night before full ordination as a monk. Forever grateful for the journey it has taken me on and for the amazing people I’ve had the good fortune to meet as a result #monasterymonday

It’s #monasterymonday again! As much as I love the colours, sounds and vibrancy of the world, it won’t come as a big surprise to know I have a soft spot for solitude too! Found this pic of the Tibetan monastery where I became a monk. In the foothills of the Himalayas, overlooked by the Dhauladhar mountain range, it’s a very special place, offering a glimpse of external solitude that is increasingly hard to find. Needless to say, inner solitude can be found wherever we are in the world! Have a great week 😊✌️

#monasterymonday …it might just look like a bit of old rope, but like anything, the significance is in the meaning we give it. This is my old monks belt, which represents commitment. As you fold the lower half of the robes, one fold faces backwards and signifies leaving worldly life behind and letting go of the non-virtuous; the other fold faces forwards and signifies following a new path and adopting the wholesome. The belt is the commitment that holds the intention in place. It’s also just 1 of 5 items of clothing from the official everyday robes. And yeah, I kept a set…you know, just in case 😊 I guess everything has as much or as little meaning as we choose to give it…even a bit of old rope! Have a lovely week! #monasterymonday
