Was so happy to meet this exquisite talent @sanyamalhotra_ at the @mumbaifilmfestival screening of #RiteshBatra film #Photographer.
In the film, Sanya plays a shy, wistful girl with a vivid inner life. When she agrees to pose as the fiancé of a street photographer played by pathos charged @nawazuddin._siddiqui both their lives change. This is a slow burn, beautifully observed homage to outsiders, the impulse for connection and the crafty, incorrigible, confronting spirit of Mumbai. Bravo! Wish you all the best Sanya! We met briefly in Ludhiana when she was filming Dangal and I’ll never forget her poise and focus even then. Indian cinema is inheriting an impressive pool of talent and sensitivity with the next gen.

Brazilian artist Tatiane Freitas @tatifreitas blends classic and contemporary design for her My New Old Chair series. In a twist on kintsugi—a Japanese tradition where fractured pottery is repaired with gold—broken furniture is revitalized through the addition of acrylic resin. The resulting contemporary, yet vintage, pieces demonstrate a harmony of opposing forces. In fact, it’s this push and pull that interests the artist. By harnessing the memory of what was, and adding to the empty space, she at once honors the past, yet leaves room for future memories.

Good morning Jaipur! This may be my 500th visit but it’s wonder never leaves me. In Rajasthan, element is never pitted against element, but inhabits you with its harmony and bigness and omniscience like the sea. Makes me reflect on the lost art of restraint. How beautifully the world, left to its own devices, reflects a natural harmony born from restraint and how in these noisy times, we have forgotten to value it.
