Regina Hall Instagram – My #WCW today highlights #Minneapolis based food justice advocate LaDonna Redmond. @LaDonnaRedmond began her career in advocacy after facing limited access to nutritious, organic food in her native Chicago community.
LAdonna has successfully worked to get the Chicago Public Schools (@chipubschools) to change policies on #JunkFood, launched urban agriculture projects, started a community grocery store, and worked on federal farm policy to expand access to healthy food in low-income communities.

LaDonna continues to challenge food producers and consumers to examine the inequalities in the #FoodSystem and seek solutions that don’t negatively impact on the rights of #ImmigrantLaborers or people of color living in low-income communities. “What is needed is a new and vibrant food system, one that has at its core #equity and #justice. It will take all of us to create a vibrant, strong, economically viable environmentally sound and socially just food system.”
Regina Hall Instagram – Today my #WCW is dedicated to award-winning #EnvironmentalJustice scholar and advocate, author, and professor of Sociology, Dr. Beverly L. Wright.
Dr. Wright is the founder and executive director of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice (@dscej), an organization committed to improving the lives of children and families harmed by #pollution and vulnerable to the #climate crisis along the Louisiana Mississippi River Chemical Corridor and the #GulfCoast Region.
Dr. Wright has conducted groundbreaking research in devalued, climate-affected communities in the Gulf Coast and around the U.S. for more than three decades. Although #policymakers are slow to act, she says the urgency of climate change will soon become undeniable, even for the nation’s most privileged.
“The thing about climate change is, in the end it affects all of us. People don’t care about it when it does not affect them, but there’s no running from climate change.”
