Happy birthday @jaredpadalecki! Thank you for always showing up with great big arms of support and allyship for those lucky enough to be a part of your orbit. 🤟🎂🎉
I was looking through pictures on my phone and apparently it, like very many of you, loves Misha enough to have made a separate clip consisting of just this. Happy birthday to the extremely lovable @misha! Very happy you were born. 🤟
Canceled my birthday because 2020. Figured I’d just be the same age for one more year! But my husband did not get the memo and surprised me with a really lovely & socially distant outing. Neither did the rest of you because of all the lovely thoughts you’ve sent. The less you need the more you realize you have. And I have y’all so I have everything. 🙏❤️
My mom just sent me this. Do people still use these fluffy white things in pictures? If so, I’m sorry. #seniorpictures #classof1998
Clearly thrilled (get it? 😉) to share the #MillieMask with y’all! Ever since I wore a clear-paneled medical mask on Grey’s Anatomy, I’ve been getting requests from people around the world about where to get one. This mask from the incredible @milliesimm & @rafinova_go is it! It increases awareness of the challenges that traditional face coverings present for deaf and hard of hearing people like me. It also raises funds for @deafwomenofcolor and @txhandsandvoices! Go to rafinova.com to get yours. 🤟

My cousin just sent me this. On the set of my first movie in Central Park. I was maybe twenty one, and yes I was blonde. I blame Britney!
@tatephoto should be in Vogue (also this is a candid from when I was resting between running up and down the halls for #ThisClose)
Honestly @capturecarlos how dare you interrupt me on this very important fake call I’m pretending to have as a profoundly deaf person who has never called anyone on the phone much less in a very expensive and ostentatious soundproof booth? Missing our #ThisClose S2 family and thankful to the wonderful @faithwotila who just sent me this ❤️
My BFF @misterpr made this for me. V v v lol and also v v v appropriate because we’re all shaking off something these days. Shake it off. We got this. 👊
So @giacomo_gianniotti did the unthinkable. He convinced me to do my very first Instagram Live tomorrow! I’m going to read a poem in American Sign Language and he’s going to speak it in English and maybe in Italian if I ask nicely enough! Tune in Wednesday at 2 pm PST on @giacomo_gianniotti’s IG Live… (if I can get it to work that is🤞🙏😱) #greysanatomy #poetryinthepm #operationaslstorytime
Happy birthday to the incredible @rachelminersgram! So happy you were born. What a gift you are to us all. The universe is better with you in it! 🤟🎂🎉 📷 by @monicadphoto
👋 @flor_blake captured the very moment I saw my friends @tatephoto & @sarahstyles walk into the room! I promise to greet you the same way if you tune in today when I join @giacomo_gianniotti for Poetry in the PM on Instagram Live at 2pm PST. Hope to see y’all there! #poetryinthepm #operationaslstorytime
Was drawn to this piece by @quarantine._.comics because even without a face it’s still clear it is me. I appreciate that unique approach… and kindness. I know I’m not alone in dealing with some big feelings on social media, as my daughter’s teacher would put it. I know this is an unsteady time which leads to unsteady feelings. But now, more than ever, love is needed. Let’s all be kind to each other. ❤️
I will never walk in the shoes of the black community, but I stand with them. I know I have my white privilege, both inside and outside the deaf community, to hide behind. I always do my best work when I go silent on social media. Right now for me that work requires reading, learning, checking on people and educating myself and others through having difficult conversations. Yesterday I went down to the epicenter of the protests and the riots that followed, which is very close to us. I sat with my daughter. We had conversations with each other and with other people. While there was some damage and it was very sad to see, we also saw that it was nowhere as bad as the news made it look. We watched people come together in respect and in love and help clean up. I was reminded that sometimes silence speaks the loudest and I pledge to continue to work as hard as I can. Graphic reposted from @chrisunkim link resources in bio #blacklivesmatter
Decided to change it up a bit and do the poem by @raymond_antrobus I read with @giacomo_gianniotti for “Poetry in the PM” for #OperationASLStorytime
Back when we could be in a room with people and I didn’t wear the same outfit for a week (by outfit I mean pajamas)
Don’t know why I was biting @itshunterparrish’s guitar. Guess we had to pass the time somehow in between filming scenes for the finale of #Weeds. The show is now 15 years old (and is available on Netflix!) In many ways, I grew up on this show. It’s had such an impact on me in so many myriad ways. Happy birthday to a dark, complicated, hilarious, sometimes misunderstood but often ahead of its time show. Thanks for everything! 🤟🙏 🎂
Love this BTS shot by @bradwithaq from the first episode we filmed for Season Two of #ThisClose. Still can’t believe #MaryLouiseBurke said yes to playing Kate’s Granny. Loved her, loved writing the role she played, loved this episode, and grateful for the resulting shift in my life it caused. Thanks for the capture Brad! 🙏❤️
Honored (and more than a little flabbergasted) that Modern Love at @nytimes has picked up a piece I wrote, and for Mother’s Day no less! Like most things I write, it’s about many things… but at its core it’s about language. Link in bio.
