Every day is a new experience in the outdoors.
And this is Nihal’s favourite part. Camping. From where I come this is actually glampimg, but more on that later ).
We first took Nihal camping two years ago when he was 3. I was apprehensive whether he’d take to it. Given that a big part of his parent’s lives revolves around the outdoors and adventure, him not enjoying all those would really have put a spanner in the works. Luckily for us, he took to it like a fish to water!
And now given a choice for a weekend break- he will always pick camping. Sometimes asks to go camping in the middle of a school week too!
This time we tried a new tent from my friends @nomadadventuresoverland ! And we loved it. So much easier to set up than my older Iron Man tent ( which is faster than a conventional tent that @sherbir and I have grown up pitching – tired , hungry and often in pouring rain) . And equally quick to pack up.
Special thanks to our buddies @bimbra4x4 and @taranbimbra for installing it.
And a big shout out to my favourites at @mahindraadventure for organising this @mahindra.scorpio.official .
We had an amazing weekend amidst the pine trees with clean air , under the stars- thanks to you all.

The last few weeks have been beyond hectic, and I’m truly grateful that my work has had me doing very diverse things from speaker engagements to brand promotions, promoting running with sewa, to my acting assignments and more. But it has meant a lot of travel. And the pressure of juggling my personal and professional life has taken a toll. So I was delighted when @amanbagh invited me to spend a the weekend with them. This is just what the 3 of us needed. Quality time as a family. Unwinding and relaxing.
260 odd kilometres from Delhi, depending on where in NCR one is, is the stunning Aman Bagh. The journey takes about 4 hours- most of it on 6 lane highways first the EPE/WPE and then the newly inaugurated Delhi Vadodara Highway. The car was on cruise control for 3 hours! At Dausa, one gets on to the State Highway and 45 min later is Aman Bagh. The perfect weekend getaway!!
Nestled in a narrow valley in the Aravallis and in the buffer zone of the Sariska National park, Aman Bagh is a beautiful property!
A quick cup of tea in the courtyard and we went to our lovely room featuring a pool. Nihal was super excited, both at the sight of the pool and with the lagurs lounging near by.
Dinner was back in the courtyard with live music – Rajasthani folk of course!
The stars, the date trees and the silhouette of the Aravalis , made for a beautiful evening.

Air so clean and fragrant I wish I could bottle it somehow and take with me! And water so clean and cool!! Himachal Pradesh
Every trip to the outdoors makes Nihal braver . He is more open to taking risks and trying new things. A part of me wants to hold him back and protect him. But I realise that in doing so, I’m only coming in the way. So I hang around letting him do his thing, will being close enough to rush to him should the need arise!
He started out, not wanting to go anywhere close to the stream. Then not even wanting to come onto the first rock. Swipe to see him doing his own thing, in a short while. 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️
Video 1 me showing him
Video 2 me helping him
Video 3 me guiding him
Video 4 him doing his thing
( brief emergence of Momzilla as he slipped, but I recovered, as quickly as he did.😅
Video 5 He’s on his own- almost . And wants to do it again and again.
Quite a journey from not anting to come near water 15 minutes ago!!
@simranpotnis thank you for the photo and hospitality.

I’ve been dying to wear this stunning belt and bag from @anitadongre every since I got it ( after seeing it on the lovely @diamirzaofficial ).
I had put this outfit on a hanger ( it takes me a hell of a lot of planning to put an ensemble together, #IYKYN ) for a surprise party I was to attend. Which didn’t happen. 💁🏻♀️
So, finally got a chance to wear it the other day, and had to ask @albeegupta for a photo. Because you know there’s nothing worse than putting yourself together, and not capturing it!
Both the belt and bag are vegan leather. And so finely crafted .
Anita’s commitment to sustainability is something I have witnessed firsthand over the years. Whether it’s sourcing organic cotton from marginalised cotton growers in Telangana , to supporting artisans across the country to be pushing the envelope on animal friendly accessories .
And she practices what he preaches. For over a decade now, I cannot recall Anita carrying a leather bag. And on one of our catch ups over lazy lunches , she spoke of how she admired Stella, McCartney, and how one day she would like to do something similar in terms of accessories. And here we are .😀
I’m so, so proud to have known you over the years and to be able to call you my friend. You’re are a role model @unpluggedanita . ❤️
And yes, our lazy lunch is now overdue.

It’s not often that I get to share the stage with my illustrious father. So when Patiala based book club, the Book Lovers’ Retreat reached out to me to be part of a session with him, I seized the opportunity.
My father’s book, Indian Army:Reminiscences, Reforms and Romances is a curated collection of 50 of his columns written over the last few years. The columns cover a wide spectrum of life in the Indian Army- from his childhood ( since he is any Army BRAT too), to the 71 war where he was deployed in erstwhile East Pakistan, to his 40 years of service, to the much needed institutional reforms and of course peppered with many anecdotes.
I suspect I was brought in to be part of the session to add a touch of glamour, but I enjoyed it immensely. I did have a small role to play in this book, though, since I pushed him to start writing these columns to begin with 🤓. Swipe to see last photo.
It was very inspiring to meet members of the bookclub, all ladies, and a mix of home makers, and professionals (featuring many doctors). The club meets once a month to discuss a chosen book and we are grateful they chose Dad’s book.
Special thanks to @preet1968pps who made all this possible. @bookloversretreat
