Happy release day! My EP, ‘VIII’ is in the world. This offering of work is something that came from the depths of my subconscious. Writing in the dark, with abandon. It was only when I finished that I saw these pieces are an expression of all I don’t usually say. I think of them as my shadow, my second self. Thank you for all your amazing responses. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect them. So thank you ♥️ I recorded this EP with the magnificent @12ensemble. I am in constant awe of their artistry and skill, their openness and their beautiful, collective collaborative nature. Thank you Eloisa and Max, and the whole wonderful 12. What a privilege to have scored this wonderful film. Congratulations to our whole beautiful team. Thank you to @charliemackesy @caraspeller @peterbaynton for having me along for the ride! Just from a music pov, which is a mere slice of the collective effort – a huge shout out to @fionatron who mixed and recorded the score. To the brilliant Lara Serafin who orchestrated the music, to @upbeatmus for conducting the orchestra, and to the @bbcconcertorchestra for performing the music so beautifully So much love to everyone, and to all the people out there who responded to the film and wrote to us all. It’s honestly mainly that part which made it such a special experience ❤️
Very happy to announce the release of ‘Daylight’, the first single from my upcoming EP. When I started writing this EP, I didn’t know that these pieces would be the outcome. Thinking I might write something soft, the music began to emerge in all it’s contradictions, it’s violence, and fitful stuttering. It felt as if my shadow was breaking out into my consciousness. In the first track, “Daylight” the moment I spend too long in tonality I come straight out of it abruptly. My unconscious shadow swinging back. I recorded this EP with the magnificent @12ensemble.
