I have been doing a lot of emotional and mental purging in the last year. And the past few weeks, purging my closets and getting rid of things that no longer bring me joy. These were in the back of my closet in my office. I don’t know why I kept them, but now I’m glad I did. It’s nice to see how far I’ve come emotionally. I continue to work on not suppressing or numbing my feelings with food or alcohol and here I am.
I am enough.
Our bodies do not define who we are as human being’s. A number on the scale does not define how much love your heart can hold. 🩷

I think in the midst of a healing journey, we forget to pat ourselves on the back and really look back at how far we’ve come. I know I have been guilty of that. Those little tiny voices that want to start beating me up again thinking about how in the world I tolerated the intolerable, and what was I thinking?, and I’m so stupid I should’ve known better, and I’m an idiot how could I have been so fooled, and why did I protect them for so long?, and I should have left earlier, blah blah blah blah 😝
Gratefully, those days are WAY fewer and far between. Almost nonexistent. 🥹
I can really, truly give myself compassion because I know I was doing my best to love, to be generous, to be compassionate, and have patience, even though I was never given the same respect. Those little voices are telling us we need to give all that love, generosity, compassion, and patience to ourselves first! We deserve all of that. There are now many more days where just the pure peace and joy of existing are here and for once in my life, I know I deserve it.
And so do you. 🥰
You deserve all the peace and kindness that you give. The more gratitude we feel for the good, the bad, and the ugly, the healthier and happier we get.

This is my sweet brother @bertinsnowy 🩵
He and only one other beautiful human work at the non-profit Antrim County Animal Shelter in Michigan and take care of over 60 cats and kittens and at least 12 pups. They feed them, medicate them and do their best to keep them alive until someone can adopt or help foster.
If anyone in Antrim county or the surrounding area is thinking of getting a pet or even just fostering it would be SO helpful! 💜
