Oh how I miss the smell of the sound stage. The sleepy early mornings either beginning our day or the tail end of a long one. I miss the crew and the conversations. I miss the creatives, the rewrites, the nerves. I miss the conjuring of emotion, the swell of tears, the listening. I long for the ability to play and to express with my fellow actors. I miss the feeling of going away to camp at the start of production and the deep connections we share after a series ends. Oh how I miss the smell of the sound stage. 🦉 This beautiful great horned owl greeted me this morning on my walk. In many Native American tribes, this was considered a warning of death or a visit from an ancestor. I sat with it for about an hour. It was sleeping for the majority of the time. It was peaceful even out in the light of day and fully exposed. It was well-fed and resting. It was steady and sure of its choice of oaks. I had some reflection on my own comfort levels. Where I feel vulnerable and exposed. Where I feel safe and unsafe and with whom. I have deep gratitude for the safety of our neighborhood and this community. This particular tiny house the girls and I have lived in has been a safe owl box. A lot of healing and peace has washed over us here. It brought up worry about stepping out and being exposed to the elements of life. Worries that I won’t have the income to move us soon as we’ve out grown our space. I sat still for a long time… I feel like that owl was showing me that I too could rest peacefully on my choice of oaks. It felt like my ancestors were nudging me to step out into the light and to not be afraid. I heard them say “You are safe. You will be provided for by spirit.” of course, if this is a sign that tomorrow will not come… well, today I shared the beauty of this splendid creature. The endless love I have for my daughters, my family & friends…The love of our owl box and all of the love inside of its walls. The reminder that this day is precious. You are precious and the undoubted belief that spirit will provide for us all. Be well, I hope to see tomorrow. (i’m winking at you;)🦉 #birdsofprey

I’m dyslexic and the only way I can write without flipping letters is by writing in cursive. It’s also a beautiful tool to have in your toolbox. So much to be thankful for… Sadly, there were no pics of my handsome fiancé to grace the gram. But he gets gratitude from me in real time. This year is really about savoring the moments. My kids are growing up and becoming so much more independent. It really allows for reflection and the ability to be completely present. Brings up all the feels… knowing we’re all aging and life is moving much faster than this Momma would want, it’s inevitable. So I savor, stare at them uncomfortably long, tear up when they laugh. You know all the things. Life is beautiful and I’m so grateful to be able to live it with my friends and my family. Our beautiful Mother has led us all with such grace. I marvel at her life and her accomplishments. Very very grateful that all of the grandchildren have her as a Northstar. Hoping you all can slow down enough to notice the goodness that colors your lives. Take the time to marvel at the many blessings in your lifetime now, while you are living it. 🙏🏼

Again, this sculpture needs to be circulated. The probability of your being born is about 1 in 4 trillion. When you look into the eyes of another they too are a miracle. What is your souls assignment? I want to share a story with you. 13 years ago my Dad was going back to his small West Texan town for homecoming and a parade. I love this tradition as much as he does. My younger brother Zach was dating Bill who was male and had a beautiful dark chocolate complexion. When I asked Zach if they were going he said “there’s no way we can go there.” I thought it was ridiculous, it was 2010 for Gods sakes. Well, I arrived and after the football game we went to a gathering for dancing and celebrating and honestly, I had to confront the fact that Zach and Bill would not have been welcome, a sad realization. Everyone was very welcoming to me and I line danced and met my Dads elderly classmates. I sat next to a woman in her mid 50’s. I told her about the birth of my sweet baby girl, Ada. I was giddy with excitement. Beaming over this new chapter, the Pureness of it all. She said have you baptized her yet? I said no, not yet. She then squared her shoulders to me and asked me why? How could I have not made that the first of my priorities? That she would go to hell, that I would go to hell. Well, imagine the prickly feeling that washed over me. She was damning my sweet precious baby girl. I was hot in the face and wanted to to say how dare you, how inappropriate among other choice words. Then I heard (yes actually heard, Gods words) I heard “She is loving the only way she knows how.” Her words were her truth. She was actually trying to save my child, to bring love and protection to my child. I suddenly shifted my own prospective and it was one of the great Ahah moments of my life. Jesus walked the earth without judgment. Story or truth, Look into the eyes of our adversary’s who’s actions or words are unfathomable to us. Take a step back and know they only know what they know. They can see through the lens of their own experience. Same for us. In terrifying times like these. Be the light. Don’t allow the darkness to overcome you. Be the light. 🙏🏼#light
