First time I got to cover set I was blown away by the entire team. Our actors are emotional athletes. Talented and dedicated but also kind. Working with them was always a fulfilling experience. They made me cry with their performances, I was intellectually stimulated while discussing lines, and they even had the energy to make me laugh. While WGA’s strike is over, SAG is still fighting for a fair deal so here’s me talking truths about the cast I got to work with. I’m sure this will be over soon and will end well. 💕 So this may be the perfect time to let you know All Rise is back! 👩🏾⚖️ S3 part 2 came out September 16th, and my episode premiered last Saturday (shoutout to @martina.m.lee who directed it!). It’s only been 2 episodes and there’s 8 more to go! You can watch on OWN or MAX. All Rise is ending with this season, so this is particularly especial. I hope you join us. Actors are drawn to compelling characters and good story. Directors look for good scripts to direct. We arrive to set and PAs have already printed the sides of the day. Long tone meetings for each department to hear from the writer what makes sense story-wise. Makeup and costume designers have asked me to approve a certain color or shade and their thinking process is based on the script. We’re ALL storytellers. All jobs are important. It takes a village. And if it all starts with a script, why is it so hard to get fair compensation? We’re not asking for A-listers salaries. We just want to get paid. I love writing more than I can express. I love you, writers. #WGAStrong

January 10th, 2023. 🎈 This past year I did things I never thought I would. From overcoming fears to making hard decisions. It was a year of purge, liberation, communication with my body, tenderness, and love. Not all of it was easy, but one day, “easy” came to me. And wow, I’ve forgotten how that felt like. Not to say things should always be easy, but not everything has to be so difficult to have value. We don’t have to constantly fight or struggle to earn what we want, or to be deserving. Yes, “hard” is part of life. But so is rest, and peacefulness, and stillness. I guess what I’m trying to say is that life is about balance. I think I found that balance. Not sure if that’ll change tomorrow, but today I embrace Easy as much as I embrace Hard. 💚 A couple of friends captured my new essence, @christinmuuli with her phone 📸 & @tarot_obscuro with her words ✍🏼 Happy 33 to me!✨
