Today I am honoured to be made a Doctor of the University at Loughborough. This is where I studied by Post Graduate Diploma in 2012 – I believe that developing yourself and your skills is vital to achieving your dreams.
To everyone with a big dream, and to all those graduating today – don’t listen when people say your dreams are impossible – you must be self-disciplined and believe in your goal. Make a goal that is bigger than just yourself. Make your goal something that will inspire others and make a positive change. Then work hard with all your heart to make it a reality. I truly believe that nothing is impossible – humans are capable of incredible things. Dream big, believe in yourself and work hard. Nothing is Impossible.

We spent three hours there, ensuring everyone acclimatized properly. Now, we’re resting and recovering in Confluencia before heading to our home for the rest of the expedition at the Mulas / basecamp.

Today, three years ago, in glorious sunshine and biting cold, me and the ten-strong Nepalese Team strode to the summit of K2 in Winter, arm-in-arm, singing the Nepal national anthem.
This is a feat no one thought possible – the first time K2 had ever been summitted in winter, another ground-breaking evolution and one I’m so proud to say I did with my Nepal brothers.
It was not about ego or who would make it to the top first, it was about true collaboration – putting that ego aside to ensure this summit was remembered for the power of teamwork, collaboration and to inspire the human race that nothing is impossible.

Today, three years ago, in glorious sunshine and biting cold, me and the ten-strong Nepalese Team strode to the summit of K2 in Winter, arm-in-arm, singing the Nepal national anthem.
This is a feat no one thought possible – the first time K2 had ever been summitted in winter, another ground-breaking evolution and one I’m so proud to say I did with my Nepal brothers.
It was not about ego or who would make it to the top first, it was about true collaboration – putting that ego aside to ensure this summit was remembered for the power of teamwork, collaboration and to inspire the human race that nothing is impossible.

On 16th January 2021, Nimsdai and a strong Nepali team, made the historic first winter ascent of K2. Nims completed this epic feat without supplementary oxygen.
This week, we celebrate not only the record, but also the determination, fortitude and human connection that made this incredible journey possible.
