Caption : This guy. Do you recognize him? This is a young man, dying inside, looking for some outside influence to heal the inside forces of dark despair. What I found was that nothing – drugs, alcohol, or even a porn ‘stache, could relieve the internal hurts of a past that had no father, money or stable place to live. Was beaten to a pulp by peers, kidnapped by a serial pedophile. Lotta aches on the resume. At 12, the alcohol consumption, beginning with gulping any booze I could steal in liquor cabinets, poured into Mason Jars, a concoction I called “Weasel Piss.” Drugs were added to the menu in 9th grade – pot, acid, coke, meth…whatever I found to numb the pain of past & present. Overdosed in Jamaica, died, hovering over my body until revived. Committed countess crimes, motivated by a hate for rich people. Robbery, vandalism, sold stolen goods. I always wanted more. I was a more whore. Did comedy beginning in high school, but no laughs could halt the anguish. Tried to take my own life. On Nov 20, 1987, I found life. It’s the day I stopped all mind altering substances. I surrendered. Now victorious, in more ways than this kid, who paid someone to take his SAT’s, could have imagined. Success beyond dreams, but the greatest achievement is the self discovery of the man I was destined to be. Freedom! I owe it all to sobriety. thank you all for taking part in the bliss I now get to experience! If you’re struggling, I’m here for you. Our heads are a bad neighborhood. Don’t go in alone! Caption : Last night, a guest of @thekennyloggins – his final shows of a stellar 55 career. So surreal. Was often moved, thinking back to when I was a kid in comedy, and this music master took me on tour w/him, back when communication was pen/paper/pay phones, and high tech was a smoke machine! I suddenly went from playing smoky clubs (yes kids, REAL stink-smoke, not vape), traveling w/a crew & band, a huge departure from the solo destination dash of a standup comic. A tour manager, and a group of guys to play with, try out material. When we hit the Neil Simon Theatre, a band member became ill, Kenny asked me to learn the bass notes over dinner, and I sang backup for a week on Broadway! Crazy… Amazing concert last night, w/all the hits. Such a prolific writer, gifted vocalist. I believe he belongs in the songwriters Hall of Fame. Countless hit songs. Google it. There are 80s soundtrack hits like, “I’m Alright,” and “Footloose,” but much more. Celebrate Me Home was ethereal astounding last night. I’d like to plant seeds here. Caption : Surreal? Bought groceries to bring to someone close to us who’s in firmed. Outside the grocery store, a woman has a sign that she needs help to feed her for kids. I tell her I will come back with clothes after giving her money. Go back, on our way to deliver the groceries and hang with my friend, She’s not there. Drive over 20 miles, get off his exit, she’s there, w younger kid. We couldn’t stop the car, so I told her we’d be back. Went back after. Bringing groceries to my friend and hanging. She’s not there. I didn’t drive 6 miles, happen to make a left, turn, and there she is again, I completely different place. Wtf. Made a couple, U-turns, took the kids and dog under the bridge, and there she was. Finally got her the clothes! What in the world is going on here?

Caption : 6 wks ago we rescued Buffy from a local shelter. She was in there for several months, longest of any dog. Can’t imagine the PTSD an animal must have, when locked in a cement cage, surrounded by 24/7 barking. We were there for an hour and it drove me insane. I would have spilled secrets to the enemies if I had to be there longer! Buffy bonded w/me & my younger kids, Jackson & Chloe, as if we were meant to be a family all along, apparently scripted by a love/light source/force of magnificent destiny. In other words – she licks, then sticks, now part of the Shoemaker mix. Considering the upheaval me & the children have been forced to manage, I’m not sure if it’s Buffy or us who was rescued. This pic was taken just now, me reclined, doing some work one-handed, the other extending TLC to our sweet, beautiful girl. Caption : Many of you donated to LaughterHeals.org on my birthday. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. With the money raised, me and my children, Jackson and Chloe, went grocery shopping. Not for us! L O L. It was for food for a man who is barely hanging on. Comedians do not have pensions, a union or organization that supports these independent artists. It seems insane to me that the people who bring Laughter to the world, are generally cast aside and not acknowledged. people are quicker to cancel a comedian for a joke they don’t get, than they are to give a glowing review or pass the word around about a comedian they enjoy. Stanley Ullman performed standup for over three decades, supplying countless laughs, but now, due to poor health, he cannot get up on another stage. On Thanksgiving day, me and the children brought him foods and goods. More to come, but I wanted to let you know that your donation put a smile on his face, and assuaged his anxiety. Caption : A long career has led to a diverse list of venues, including a coupla bowling alleys, a pizza parlor and even Harrison Ford’s former back yard lap pool. Played 7 people to 70,000, and everything in between. Broadway, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Universal Amphitheater and the Greek. 4 US presidents at once, opened in arenas for Beach Boys, Ray Charles, @thekennyloggins, even sang backup for Kenny in a pinch. Bachelor parties, frats, countless basements. An attic, porch and bingo hall. Festivals, county fairs; corporate meetings, classrooms. A bat mitzvah, sweet 16, many a retirement dinner. Summer of ‘22 – @davechappelle ‘s cornfield in Ohio. But, last night, minutes away from Dave’s, I had a first. Performed at a minor league hockey rink! Yup. Moved the Zamboni, covered the ice with wood, and off we went, an all headliner show with killer acts @marylynnrajskub & @jimmyshubert at Hobart Arena. Fund raiser for the awesome Shriners, set up by all-star Dayton real estate agent, @remax_bryanogletree – President/high priest, of the Shriners local chapter. Kudos to Bryan for bringing a second LaughFest to the area. Laughter is the perfect fund raiser, or shall I say, “FUN raiser?” Thanks to those who came out. Caption : David, owner of @floasisatlanta contacted me when I was in Atlanta, offering me a session in a float tank. He’s a long time fan of my comedy, and was generous to reach out. I’ve avoided this for decades, when I first heard about these deprivation tanks. Much more of a doer than floater. Figured I’d be claustrophobic, being put inside of this giant clam shell filled with salt water. Well, I tried it. Never thought my big dome would float, but it remained a buoy the entire 40 minutes. I can’t believe how much I loved it. Once I relaxed into the vibe, it turned into deep, mindfulness meditation, bringing a calm peace over my entire weightless body. Frustrations, resentments, concerns, fears all disappeared, replaced with a sense of divine purpose and inspired actions of healing. My friend Kiki said I looked five years younger. Considering I’ll be a year older this wee, I better jump back in the tub again! I brought it up on stage last night, but was surprised to see that not one person in the crowd even knew what it was. Curious, has anyone here heard of doing this? Better yet, has anyone tried it? If so, what were the results? it was also a time to create, and can’t wait to bring some of these new thoughts to our Zoom coaching program tomorrow!

You can do so in simple ways by following their Podcast, commenting, and liking on posts or kind feedback with perhaps a personal note. I have actually had comics asking me to get them in the top venues that I work, and they don’t even follow me on IG! Lol I just booked @joyvilla to open for me at Off The Hook in Naples next week and it was because we had a wonderful conversation that led to a desire to hang and work together. There are enough people being negative and even cancelling comedians. I watched the attacks on @jokoy and him hosting the Golden Globes. Why? Isn’t this business difficult enough? Caption : Lotsa scuttlebutt about the Hall & Oates lawsuit. We really don’t know anything. With restraining orders, you’re not allowed to speak. But here’s what I do now. Oates is a really good guy. Back in 2005, I received an email from John Oates, expressing how much he loved my comedy, asked if I was from Philadelphia, let me know that he and the band listen to me on their tour bus. These guys are rock ‘n’ roll, hall of fame, legends, and I thought someone was playing a joke on me, so I wrote back, “yeah, right. I and I’m Vanilli.” He wrote a second time and said he’d leave me tix for their gig at the Greek theater in LA. An amazing concert, of course, and I went backstage to meet the legends. We told some stories, talked about us both going to Temple University. I worked up the courage to invite him to be an actor in the movie we were filming at the time, “Totally Baked.” I couldn’t believe he said, “yes!” John, his wife & son show up at the set of the independent movie I created, a film about marijuana that posed the question, “should the weed be freed?“ He was such a great sport. I had to ad lib and write a scene for him, moving things around to accommodate our special guest. He had shaved his iconic mustache, and stated that no one recognizes him. Immediately, I pulled out scissors, cut the auburn hair of our prop guy, got some glue, fixed it to John’s upper lip. We actually ended up using the mustache as a stoner Easter egg, slapping it on various characters throughout the film. Hall couldn’t make it, so I stepped in, already playing the narrator you can only see if you’re high, and had one of our actresses bend over backwards, dangling her long, blonde hair over my face, so I could be Daryl Hall. One of the characters I named, “Noyd,“ was paranoid when high, turning to his friend in fright, saying, “I’m so baked, I think I see Hall & Oates,“ which prompted me & John to sing a few verses of their hit song, “Maneater.“ Check out the film, streaming on a few platforms. Maybe Shoe & Oates should tour?

Caption : #throwbackthursday 1988. Outta college, ready to attack show business, moved to LA. @jenniferconvy dad, TV star Bert Convy, gave his daughter his Dodger tix for the World Series. Game day, we get to her dad’s house, can see the tix on his kitchen counter, but we are locked out. I had a decision to make. Do we give up, or do I let my new Beverly Hills friend know about my Philly past, when I broke into homes for the older teen gangs? Acceptance Cali guy, or resilient back east boy? Hah! Is there really a choice?! I crawled in, and grew-up-poor Craigy Shoemaker got to sit in a luxury box at Dodger stadium for the WORLD SERIES! As luck would have it, the game was 1 of the most historic EVER. The Kurt Gibson home run against the then mighty A’s, and the top pitcher in baseball. When he hit that shot, against all odds, over the right field fence, the place erupted. Well, half the place, because typical for Los Angeles, many left early to beat the traffic! Lol. Morons. To add to this fantasy moment, was that the 4 guys in the box next to us, were some of the most famous in comedy history. During celebration, I found myself jumping up & down, hugging my idols, which added to the already epic moment. Now, a game for you… Name the 4 icons. Only hint – 2 were pretty much known for comedy, also stand-ups, and the other 2 had broad careers in movie acting. First one who can name them all, gets tix to one of my shows. Speaking of, only a handful of seats left for tonight @comedyandmagicclub Hermosa. Oh, that underdog Dodgers team won the championship. This year‘s overdog Blue Crew, well, not so much. 😩 Looking forward to your answers!
