The foundational UK artist and gifted actor Ashley Walters, aka Asher D, perhaps best known as the man behind Dushane, in the Netflix smash Top Boy, invited me to his house in Kent to – yes – lift some weights in his gym but more importantly to talk about his life and career. He treated me to several hours of in-depth and thoughtful conversation about growing up in Peckham, So Solid Crew, catching a gun charge and doing time in prison, Hollywood films, family life, social anxiety and much much more. I got on the scales November 2023 and realised I was exactly 100kg. The next day I made a decision to get back to the grind. I called @camchidamma to train me and @mrsportofficial to sort out my diet. I’m now down to 92kg and aiming to hit 83kg by February. All we need is the drive and determination to be the change we want to see. This is not a New Year’s resolution thing, this is a life thing. This is the same energy I have in every aspect of my life. If you can’t match the same energy, kindly remove yourself. I don’t have the time, respectfully ✊🏾

#AD Christmas can be a difficult time for many people, and so a helping hand can go a long way 🤝 That’s what @idiascommunitykitchen offers residents in Hackney, with free hot meals and a warm, friendly space to sit and socialise. I spent time at the kitchen to see how the support of @fareshareuk helps families in need. It was deeply touching witnessing the way Aina and her team work so hard for the community. This sort of selfless act should be inspirational to all of us. In 12 months, together with their customers, franchisees, and suppliers, @mcdonaldsuk has enabled the redistribution of more than 2 million meals as part of their long-standing partnership with the food poverty charity.
