We had a great time with Jessica Ashley Gagen, Miss England! As she toured @nasakennedy, she got to experience a day in the life of a #Starliner engineer. 🚀 Her passion for aerospace brought her stateside to see how we’re building the future of space exploration.

Yesterday I visited NASA’s iconic VAB! The VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) was completed in 1966 and has since processed 12 Apollo missions, 4 Skylab missions, 1 Apollo-Soyuz project, 1 Ares 1 mission, Artemis 1 and all 135 Space Shuttle missions! Quick facts about the VAB: 🚀 At 3,684,883 cubic meters, it is one of the largest buildings in the world by volume! 🚀 The American flag painted on the building is 209ft tall and 110ft wide – each star is 6ft across! 🚀 The building is made of 65,000 cubic yards of concrete and its frame contains 98,590 tons of steel! Massive thank you to the team at @boeing for organising my visit – granting a foreign national access to this incredible piece of engineering doesn’t come easy! I’m mesmerised 🤩✨ #nasa #vab #stem #missengland #rocketscience #rocketscientist #aerospaceengineer #engineer #engineering #science #astro #avgeek #spacegeek #florida #capecanaveral #redhead #space #rocket #artemis

It’s time for #STEM book club! 📖 No.10 of the year is Brief Answers to the Big Questions by the legendary Stephen Hawking! I’m about half way through and loving every chapter – a great read if you’re interested in learning more about how science can be used to answer topical questions! Theories are explained clearly and complex mathematical equations omit, so that anybody, regardless of their mathematical ability, can grasp the concepts of the book! This book was October’s read but I’ve been so hectic in the USA that I forgot to post it during month number 10, so keep an eye out for November’s recommendation in a couple of weeks time! #STEM #STEMbook #bookclub #science #technology #engineering #maths #stephenhawking #usa #nasa #aerospace #aerospaceengineer #redhead #missengland
Yes, I’m always this glam at the airport 🤥😂 Off to represent all of the little girls told they’re boyish for liking planes, rockets and helicopters, but also off to represent all of the ‘girly girls’ who like princesses, makeup and beauty – because there’s nothing wrong with being either, and you’re allowed to be both 🫶🏼🤍 #barbie The world awaits! ✈️🇮🇳 Jumpsuit by @kevanjonfashion ❤️
Yesterday I had the opportunity to interview the incredible Noelle Zietsman, Chief Engineer of Boeing Exploration Systems! 🚀 As part of her role she oversees all human spaceflight; including Starliner, SLS and ISS missions – leading all technical teams to make sure they can get to their desired space locations. Noelle is a fantastic role model for any budding female engineer, as not only is she an incredible engineer herself – but a mother to two girls!.. I can’t wait to show you the content we shot! ✨ #womeninSTEM

Full circle moment! 🥹🤍 This evening I was invited back to my old secondary school to speak as their guest of honour at the 2023 awards evening! Here I’m stood with one of my favourite teachers, who really brought me out of my shell whilst I was at school. Mrs Downing was one of my PE teachers, and selected me as Sports Woman of the Year in 2010 after years of representing the school in so many tournaments – I’ve since won Miss England but winning that award still ranks as a top tier memory for me 🤣 Massively grateful. Congratulations to the class of 2023! 📚 #aspiretoinspire
What I’ve been reading this month 👇🏼 #bookclub I’m aware that people have mixed views of Elon, so I decided to pick up his new official biography by Walter Isaacson, so that I could learn a little more than I already knew about the chap 📚 This post isn’t me expressing my opinion of the guy, nor is it me telling you to go out and buy the book – it’s simply me letting you know what book I’ve read this month (as I always do), and that it’s an easy, loosely STEM related read which I’m finding fascinating so far. As well as delving into Elon’s life, of particular interest to me is where the book voyages through the beginnings of Tesla and SpaceX, detailing the trials and tribulations that lead to eventual success – which resonated with the engineer in me, (the one that battled her way through her third year project at university, but got there in the end) 😂 #STEMBookClub #STEM #science #technology #engineering #maths #elon #elonmusk #spacex #nasa #space #avgeek #stemfluencer #spacegeek #aerospaceengineer #physics #tesla
It’s time for #STEM book club, and this month I’m reading Mustn’t Grumble, by Graham Lawton! Sometimes I’m in an astronomy mood, sometimes an engineering mood, but this month I’ve decided to have a break from physics and read my guilty pleasure genre – Human Biology! This little book guides the reader through the day to day ailments we’re all subject to and talk about, but explains the science behind them – everything from headaches to pins and needles! I’m loving it so far, check it out! 📚 #STEM #bookclub #STEMbookclub #science #technology #engineering #maths #biology #physics #redhead #reader #engineer
Docking Boeing’s new Starliner Simulator at the @kennedyspacecenter 🚀✨🇺🇸 On my recent trip to the US I got to try out the CST-100 Starliner Simulator, a full scale exhibit of the crew module’s cockpit 😍 The simulator has 80 switches, a translational hand controller and visual cues – designed based on the experiences of Boeing veteran astronaut Chris Ferguson – who I interviewed in Las Vegas! 🤯 📍 Located at KSCVC in Florida, USA 🇺🇸 #aerospace #aerospaceengineering #avgeek #simulator #flightsim #starliner #boeing #ksc #nasa #iss #space #spacegeek #stem #science #tech #engineering #maths
