PROUD MOTHER MOMENT ❤️
My daughter, @cambridgeuniversity nanotech research scientist, @katie.science
Dr Katie King Ph.D founded a space company BioOrbit last yr, part sponsored by European Space Agency @esa.
She has just won INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD at @everywomanUK
By taking certain cancer drugs to space, the perfect crystallisation of proteins in microgravity will allow patients to inject under the skin at home instead of going into hospital for chemotherapy.
First process trial… in space…coming soon.
I’ll be going to that rocket launch for sure!!!

Special Economic Zones 🤯
These are the most frightening legacy of the Tory govt, to last for decades after the general election.
David Powell talks to me about something most of us aren’t even aware of, SEZs
Summary of my chat from @implausibleblog below ⏬️
➡️ SEZs are small individual states within a state
➡️ 74 spread across England, Scotland and Wales
➡️ 12 freeports
➡️ Biggest one is 75 km in diameter and contains the whole of Dartmoor down to Plymouth
➡️ They create their own employment law
➡️ They have their own tax system
➡️ Each SEZ has private laws run by corporations
➡️ The EU has these but these are regulated to stop corporations from making profits and sending that money offshore, without contributing any of the profit to the running/infrastructure of the SEZ
This is truly frightening…
BOB wasn’t happy with me 😂😂
He prefers a bit of whataboutery more akin to a GB News item. Bob doesn’t like an argument based on evidence!!! The whole row went on for about 10 minutes I think, here’s just a bit of it!
Join me next Sunday 4-7pm for more lively chat 👍🏼👍🏼
TWITTER ROUND UP SO FAR THIS WEEK
The sewage from this govt keeps on spewing out in all forms.
On Jan 25th 2023…292 Tory MPS voted for 15 more years of sewage dumping.
The water companies listened and Sewage spills DOUBLED in 2023 to
4 million hours
Dividends to shareholders ALMOST TRIPLED to £1.4 BILLION in tax year 2022/23
Here’s the list of Conservative MPs who voted for 15 more years of sewage dumping…..check to see if yours is on the list and let them know by social media
Yesterday, it was announced that the bottom of the barrel of Tory MPs (it’s a low bar) Jonathan Gullis has been appointed as a Deputy Chairmen of the Tory Party, to replace the suspended 30p Lee Anderson – who then defected to the far right Reform Party (which is in fact a limited company with Nigel Farage retaining the position of ‘person of significant control’ – check it out on Companies House website).
Other horrors from the Tories this week (and it’s only Wednesday) include two ministers resigning for unspecified reasons – some story will eventually be revealed!
Tory Teesside Mayor Ben Houchen trying to distance himself from the National Tory Party before the local elections on May 2nd. Houchen was put into the House of Lords by Boris Johnson and has handed 90% of the Teesside Freeport ownership to 2 private businessmen. Up to now over £500 million of taxpayers assets and cash has been put into the dubious project and the businessmen have reportedly drawn over £100 million out so far in profit!!
The Tory dregs are still attempting to drag Angela Rayner through the mud about a council house she owned many years before she even became an MP. Rayner was a teenage Mum and later when married she had a premature baby son at 23 weeks who spent 8 months in intensive care and is registered blind. She and her husband decided to keep two separate properties at that time. Tory Andrea Jenkyns who is part of the Tufton St set and director of a company which does not disclose its funding, called Rayner a hypocrite, so I’ve pointed out Jenkyns’ hypocrisy. She’s the one who put her middle finger up to protesters outside Downing St!!! This government is the very worst.

A lively @LBC show yesterday
4-7pm every week 😉
For one of our hours I asked this question :
With all of the dirty tricks this Tory govt has employed regarding elections, do you still have faith in our system of democracy?
🔹bringing the independent body the Electoral Commission under govt control
🔹introducing Voter ID
🔹altering Mayoral elections from Proportional Representation to First Past The Post
🔹making rules for Voter ID extremely complicated
EVIDENCE
Since 2019 there have been MORE TORY MPs booted out of parliament for reasons such as sexual misconduct than there have been convictions and/or cautions of Voter ID. And yet there are no checks on who can become an MP!!
LBC SHOW
On my show we talked about lots of things including
After the utter chaos of the Tories this week, was the last politician you felt was working for you and not for themselves? Overwhelmingly the answer kept coming back to GORDON BROWN…..including all he did to introduce Sure Start and lots to give children opportunities. The global financial crisis wrecked it for him and in 2010 we had a Conservative Lib Dem coalition with David Cameron as Prime Minister and Nick Clegg as his deputy. They introduced the austerity years and we all are living through the results of that.
Other subjects were the SEZs….Special Economic Zones which nobody in media seems to be talking about BUT they are my biggest fear and will be the legacy of the Tories. There are 74 SEZs and 12 Freeports already in existence. What are they? They are effectively little states within this country. Some of them are as big as Dartmoor down to Plymouth
Within them they can set their own tax system, their own employment laws (or lack of them) and compulsory purchase land or buildings at their own will. They are terrifying. So I spoke to David Powell about them as an introduction to the subject.
Remember the day you first heard about them. I believe they are what Brexit was really all about.
The lies about stopping immigration were just a ruse to get dog whistle votes from people who didn’t know better.
We also talked about Frank Hester who has donated £10 million to the Tory party. His company has received over £400 million in government contracts since 2015. He is reported to have made disgusting racist comments about Labour MP Diane Abbott. The Tories won’t hand back the money and seem happy to accept another £5 million from him in the coming months for their election game.
Tune in every Sunday 4-7pm @lbc ❤️❤️👍🏼

ANSWERING YOUR POLITICAL QUESTIONS PART 2
Is there any way we can lower taxes and still have decent public services?
The Tories have effectively privatised all the things I grew up with which were nationalised back then so profits went back to the govt. Their final hurrah is to effectively privatise the NHS so that money going into the NHS becomes profit for a lot of their Tory party donors’ companies. Take that profit away and everything will cost less and hopefully run better. Decades ago we were sold the lie that everything going through a private company will be more efficient and cheaper than if it was run publicly. We’ve learned (water gas electricity… everything) otherwise haven’t we?
Do you think Michael Gove’s failure to notify financial interests is a breach?
Yes I do. He received tickets for a football game from David Meller and didn’t declare them which in itself sounds like nothing. But then when you hear that David Meller (a tory donor and sponsor of Gove for leader) had a company called Meller Designs, a fashion company with no experience of PPE which then received VIP Lane contracts of £160 million during Covid after being referred by Michael Gove, then the penny starts to drop about conflicts of interest?
Do you think they are more corrupt today than years ago, or just not as smart in hiding it?
I believe that the system has never been more corrupt than since the Brexit vote. Corruption wasn’t something which was even thought about when I was young and most of our infrastructure was owned by us, it was nationalised. Nearly everything was nationalised. So there wasn’t room for private profiteering off govt contracts. I’m not saying nothing bad happened as I don’t know but since Brexit it has escalated to a situation I don’t recognise anymore. It’s breathtaking. Donate to the Tories and you get a place in the House of Lords anyone?

@lbc SHOW – TALKING CANCER
After the shock announcement by Princess Catherine about her cancer I chatted to oncology expert Professor Gordon Wishart. This govt is failing on all cancer targets, Gordon told me that he was part of a group of oncology experts commissioned by the govt to write a report. They put their report in TWO YEARS AGO and this Tory govt HASN’T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED ITS RECEIPT let alone actioned any of the recommendations.
1 in 2 of us will suffer from a cancer during our lifetimes.
I wanted us to talk about cancer, to learn from each other and to hear the good stories and the bad.
Harvey rang in to tell us his story about his beloved wife Brenda and her cancer symptoms and eventual passing. It was an emotional conversation. I’m still affected by listening back to it to be honest 🥲
My mum had 3 different cancers before she eventually passed away. Her life was extended by nearly 20 years because of treatment. Like Harvey, I and all of Mum’s family were at her side when she died (at home).
Karen my PA and absolute rock in my life had breast cancer last year and was treated BRILLIANTLY by NHS Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Stories vary but we learn from them.
Just like you I’m sure, so many people I’ve loved have been affected and will be affected by cancer.
For help ring @macmillancancer on 0808 808 00 00
